Another option is to pull the dash and then mark and remove all wiring. Then correct everything. I did that in 2016 with my 1970 Fury. I removed all the black electrical tape and corrected each short and contact corrosion. I ended up keeping my fuse box and bulkhead connectors.

    Electrical opinion

If you regard the fuel sending unit as resistance to ground, it is a fixed resistance to ground at a set fuel level. The only variable may be the current coming from the alternator. If the alternator is not putting out enough amps at idle, the fuel sending unit has less current to ground. The...

1972 Plymouth Fury III (Gran Coupe?)

I was working on a 1971 Fury GT. I didn't have time for both. I later sold the GT because I couldn't find anybody local to do the bodywork and paint. It turned into too big a project. In retrospect, I wish I had kept the 1972 Fury III. Both cars were GY8. Love that color.

1972 Plymouth Fury III (Gran Coupe?)

Agree on the Teeing & hose across the front of the engine. Does not look or function right. Should have bought a manifold with rear vacuum port.

1972 Plymouth Fury III (Gran Coupe?)

Hi Regular This was my car until I sold it to a FCBO member in Pittsburgh. He put a lot of $ into the car to make it just what he wanted. Don't know why the sale. Really sorry to see. It is from Oregon, which explains lack of rust. It did have some body rust. See thread below. Don't know what...

    Bad News from ESPO

Lewis, My machinist is 72. this is a story of downsized but not gone. He moved his machine shop to Hopewell, Virginia, mid 1970’s. Hopewell started charging personal property tax on machinery. Example: Cost $86000 for crank grinder. Hopewell Tax Rate: The 2024 tax rate for machinery and tools...

    Bad News from ESPO

That was nice of you to care for the machine shop owner enough to give him an eye exam. Well done! Machine shops are closing in my area too. Owners are aging out and good employees are hard to find. The demand is there, because one shop has a message on his machine that he is so overwhelmed...

I don't think so. I think it would have burned.

How much bar is too much bar

I don't think either ratchet or breaker bar will hurt the engine. At worst they'll strip the crank bolt hole, which may be NBD if you have to replace crank anyway. If you think the rings are causing the problem, another option is to pull the heads and hammer on top of the pistons with dowel and...

    Engine Advice Needed

It will bolt right up. 318 is low compression, so you may want to consider higher compression pistons in the future. Also, that rubber expanding seal in the side of the block is prone to leakage. Recommend you replace with a brass core plug. You can seal the core plug with Permatex #2.

Issues with cam bearings and clearances. Cam will not fit.

According to 440 Source, they are all basically the same, even industrial blocks. Click Link below. 440 Source.com Everything you've ever wanted to know about blocks and more.... Also, all cam journals are same for B & RB. I suspect the telescoping increase in cam journal size front to back was...

Issues with cam bearings and clearances. Cam will not fit.

This is normal, unfortunately. The bearings are manufactured under size internal diameter. At the factory, they line honed the bearings out to full size. At my machine shop, my machinist used my old camshaft to drill out the new cam bearings. He nicked the rear edge of each cam journal. He oiled...

SOLD 1969 440 Chrysler Big Block exhaust manifolds Chrysler/Plymouth/Dodge C – body car

These came off of a 1970 Sport Fury parts car that had a 1969 440 engine. They have been on my shelf for about 12 years. The casting numbers are no longer present because of heat/surface rust. I think these could be used on any full-size Chrysler Corporation vehicle with a big block V-8. Right...

    Manifold trouble

Based on the information below, 1973 LH left hand (driver side) exhaust is a one-year only part number for your C-body Newport 400 V8. However, other years 1969-1972 may fit although they have a different part number. I think you should remove the exhaust manifold and have a machine shop plane...

Can I clean a catalytic convertor?

Hi Paul Exhaust System Test for Restriction: put a vacuum gauge on intake manifold vacuum at idle and then increase engine speed to 2000 rpm using the throttle linkage and hold it at that speed. Watch the needle on the vacuum gauge. If it starts to drop toward zero, you may have an exhaust...
