Don, When I got my wagon it had the same - no chrome strips in the Monaco. I couldn't find a good affordable alternative, and I wanted the sound deadening of fabric or carpet. I would have preferred finding the original style chrome strips, but those are hard to find, and when I did find them...

I do still have the thermal switch and there is vacuum line running to it. Should I cap and disconnect from the system as well?

Yup - my vacuum advance goes straight to the carb. Is it recommended that I still bypass? I'm guessing yes.

In the lower left hand corner, cylindrical part. I have a vacuum hose coming out the end that is not connected to anything, and it looks like there might be another port at the top. It is a 71 440 - I'm still learning on this one... Many thanks Joe

I have both a 71 300 with the 440 and a 66 383 (4v). I want to progressively start replacing all rubber hoses (vacuum lines, radiator overflow, heater, etc). Is there a resource on the proper sizes and lengths? If I were going to buy some in bulk, what should I buy and how much? I apologize...

Cause I am! I was rushing,didn’t research the proper way to diagnose or dismantle the power window unit. Thought “oh, just held on by there by three little bolts”. The look on ones spouse when you walk in with your hand in a bloody rag is priceless..luckily it didn’t hit the tendon
