8 3/4 pinion seal and rear axle collar adjuster

I must re-emphasize what Jon-9 said. The adjust must be on the passenger side and the lock tab is imperative. Our '65 had been put together at some time with the adjuster on the driver's side and no lock tab. With the wheel turning direction and no lock tab the adjuster backed off and the axle...

    67 Fury Glovebox install question

Sweet. And yes, my cursing was top notch. Especially when I had that big box looking at that small hole and asking, out loud, "How the Fxxx is that going to get in there?".

    67 Fury Glovebox install question

No. If you look at the picture of it installed you can see a couple of the screws holding the top to the main body of the box and a couple holding the document tray on the bottom. There are staples in some areas but I didn't have to disturb them at all. They weren't exactly speed nuts but some...

    67 Fury Glovebox install question

Fortunately, the 3 main components (box, top, and document tray) were assembled with small screws and "speed nuts" type fasteners. So, I could unscrew them and screw them back together. That is, of course, after aligning them up (joy joy).

    67 Fury Glovebox install question

I installed in our '65 Newport wagon today. I chose to disassemble the unit into 3 pieces, finagle them into the dash area individually and reassemble in the dash. This is a patience tester for sure. I am happy with the end result. First photo is what was left of the old box (after a P.O...

    Differential gear change?

Thanks Tony. I think I'm staying with the 3.23.

    Differential gear change?

I doubt it on the 15" wheels. They were on it when I bought it. My speedo doesn't work properly so I am using an app. And who knows how accurate the tach is? I have never looked at the actual gear stamp. I'm just going by the tag on the differential. No one knows for sure what any PO's have...

    Differential gear change?

Thanks all for the thoughtful and insightful sharing and advice. The more I think about it, the more I'm leaning toward the "it ain't broke so why try to fix it?" mentality. I don't run her on Interstates anyway and, if I did, I can drive 65 and there is another lane or two the faster vehicles...

    Differential gear change?

Currently running 15" wheels. Can't remember the exact size off the top of my head. Good thought, though. Thanks,

    Differential gear change?

Good evening C body gurus, I am canvassing for opinions or actual experiences with different rear axle ratios. I have a 1965 Newport wagon, 383 4bbl, 727 transmission, and (by PO) replaced 489 case (newer version than stock) differential. The current gear ratio is 3.23. I am never...

Dumb question: removing wheel covers, and right-hand lugs?

That is why if, seldom, I have service done on our 1965 Newport I tape a reminder on the steering wheel and on each fender above the driver's side wheels that they are left hand thread. It would only take a second with a high torque impact wrench to snap them off trying to loosen them counter...

    Replacement Leaf Springs Needed

Leaf Spring & Suspension Authority Since 1965 | General Spring I got these for our '65 Newport wagon last year. New rear shackles from Speedway Motors. Best of luck.

    Molded carpet

So, the close the loop on this I got the carpet install completed today. The molded carpet fir like a glove. I did have to cut a piece about 3"x6" from under the rear seat for each side where the folding seat doesn't go all the way to the body panels. A little spray adhesive and those pieces are...

    Passenger seat recline mechanism

Fantastic. Just what I needed. I do have at least one part missing but I believe I have an alternate engineering plan. If it never worked it wouldn't be the end of the world. BTW...I do have those trim pieces so only one person will know what's under there...me. Thanks all,

    Passenger seat recline mechanism

No doubt. There are plenty of trim pieces MIA. Thanks Ross.

    Passenger seat recline mechanism

Greetings gurus. Does anyone have, or could provide a photo of just how the passenger seat recline lever is supposed to be attached to the cable? This one has not been connected since we bought the car but I re-foamed the seats this week and would like to try to get this working. It seems there...

    Molded carpet

Thanks to all who have offered help here. I called Stock Interiors and the associate feels the 4 door carpet will work. In fact, if their on-line photos are representative of the product I think I will have plenty to cover the areas. I have ordered it and when I get to doing the job I will try...
