Short somewhere behind the dash in 1969 Fury III

Yes the feed to the washer is via the wiper, but even with the wire from the wiper switch to the washer switch disconnected, and with the washer switch to washer pump side disconnected, I've still got 12v at the bulkhead pin hitting the pump! I need to get access to the bulkhead connectors from...

Short somewhere behind the dash in 1969 Fury III

I disconnected the switch completely, both wires - and still get 12v at the pump and the wire connector which should be the output of the switch, even with no ignition key. I wasn't sure what the "lamp panel" is until I found a video on Youtube of someone removing the dash pad with the rest of...

Short somewhere behind the dash in 1969 Fury III

So when I tested the window washer on my Fury, I found it was dead. Had a look around and found the ground screw for the washer assembly was missing, and a piece of electrical tape wound around the tab it would go through. I put a screw in and .... the key wasn't even in the ignition and the...

    Phantom windscreen washer

Edit: car is 1969 Fury III So a few weeks ago I noticed the windscreen washer doesn't work. I had some time to look at it today and saw that the tube had been unplugged from the bonnet jets, and aimed at the floor. The bottom screw with the earth wire had been removed. Put a screw in and ...

1969 Fury III reverse lights come on in reverse or drive.

It's not something I can do myself unfortunately. I'd be happy to try to learn but the car lives half an hour away at a place with no garage facilities, and I don't have enough space at home or a covered working area. All I can do myself are jobs I can guarantee won't result in a non moveable...

1969 Fury III reverse lights come on in reverse or drive.

Well neither part looks exactly like the manual, but the one on the left above looks more like it. I'll need to find out what's in the car by pulling the NSS after doing a meter test across the pins in R/D- I've no access to a ramp so it's probably best to locate a parts source and try to find...

1969 Fury III reverse lights come on in reverse or drive.

I found this link too: 727 Torqueflite valve body switch up can it be done? | Moparts Question and Answer | Moparts Forums There's an image attached of another type which apparently works in older transmissions while the post-70 won't (attached here too). The one on the left.

1969 Fury III reverse lights come on in reverse or drive.

Since the car has a "rebuilt transmission" I'm honestly expecting to find it's an older trans rebuilt as an exchange unit... I've definitely got the 3 pin NSS or the reverse lights wouldn't work at all.

1969 Fury III reverse lights come on in reverse or drive.

Yeah I checked the manual - it's saying 3 pin on transmission and nothing in the steering colums section. I didn't check 2 & 1, should have thought to try that.

1969 Fury III reverse lights come on in reverse or drive.

If that's true I've got a big problem with maybe a wrong transmission, the old switch doesn't have reverse circuit pins. I'm going to have to pull the bulbs as a short term fix because while it's illegal to have nonfunctional reversing lamps, it's even more illegal to have white lights on the...

1969 Fury ignition switch cylinder removal

Confirmed - it's a long switch, I didn't even have to take it out as it was clear from shining a torch in there once the plastic trim panel was removed - which was easy since it was held on with chewing gum as every screw hole is broken.

1969 Fury III reverse lights come on in reverse or drive.

I wish I'd checked this when buying the car last week - in park or neutral the reversing lights are off as expected, but in reverse and drive they come on. Is a faulty neutral safety switch able to cause that or a column shifter issue?

1969 Fury ignition switch cylinder removal

Already tried - it's pretty crappy, loads of play all over the place, whole cylinder is moving!

1969 Fury ignition switch cylinder removal

All sorts, aside from expensive high end stuff. I've got a load of 30s-40s US art deco pieces, a bunch of huge modern divers from Lithuania, Kickstarter microbrands, Russian stuff. If it looks nice and doesn't cost the earth I'm interested. I'll take relevant tools to pull the lock when I go...

1969 Fury ignition switch cylinder removal

Thanks - is a pair of screwdrivers on the notched nut enough to get it moving or am I going to have to invest in a special tool? actually I'm wondering now if a watch case back wrench would do it, adjustable pin positions and about the right size. For replacements I'm seeing NOS or aftermarket...

1969 Fury ignition switch cylinder removal

Does anyone have instructions or photos for removing the ignition switch lock cylinder? Mine is basically unusable most of the time, the key won't turn unless you jiggle it a lot, sometimes it gets stuck and won't come out. The switch behaves correctly once the lock releases. Service manual...
