Here is the rear floor of my 68 Fury convertible also bought in Colorado, but for for 31 years ago. Mine is not as nice as yours but fairly dry. Im in the process of fixing it now for the second time, new paint, new top and a lot of other things.

The magnet sticks out around 1 inch. Here is 2 pictures one from the top and one from the bottom.

Here is a picture of how it looks in my 68 Fury III convertible. I bought a speaker and fader kit (original) and mounted it as described in the manual. It was a cover over the speaker hole before of the same material as the back of the seat.
