1977 Chrysler New Yorker Brougham 2dr

SOLD - 1975 Imperial Lebaron Crown Coupe Nice car! I'd have a difficult time making that decision. Here's one that has had the top removed. It may help you decide.

    78 sunroof Newport ? ever seen 1 ?

The ASC sunroofs are a very good design. I doubt manufacturers would have had them installed if otherwise. As long as it's not left open, and the drain tubes are checked periodically, it shouldn't leak. A drain tube coming off wouldn't be good and could potentially happen. I've been in my '71...

    78 sunroof Newport ? ever seen 1 ?

That's true. The sunroof was added after paint. It would've been too expensive to paint again.

    78 sunroof Newport ? ever seen 1 ?

I think that's a fairly safe assumption. I know that ASC did make glass panels in the same era for Lincoln. The big thing is, all "factory" sunroof cars, by ASC, had vinyl roofs. That, along with the lack of tag code leads me to believe that this was an after purchase add on. It looks like a...

1978 New Yorker 500 Big block

At least it didn't leave you stranded! That's pretty cool, and quite the distance.

1978 New Yorker 500 Big block

A 300 mile introduction trip, very nice. I trust it went well? That's a great looking car! Is there a story regarding the trunk map?

Can anyone identify this steering column/wheel?

Looks like a coloured Newport castle. Fuselages were simply gold, so I would guess formal Newport 74-78.

    Stubborn upper ball joint

That little puller is good for pitman arms. I would try a larger "scissor" style one that uses leverage.

1975 Imperial sunroof gear has stripped

The manual crank actuates the same gear as the motor does. It's a single small gear that moves both cables. Check your tracks for any debris with a bamboo skewer. Opening up the channels where the cables run is a messy job.

First year's worth of Dodge ownership

When did that happen? Glad you are enjoying your great cars!

    How many New Yorker's Left?

Given that the New Yorker is one of the longest uninterrupted nameplates, 1940-1996, and in '77 they made 62,127, of which we'll never know how many of that one year are left, your question is unanswerable.

    Calling anyone in Alberta

I'm in Edmonton. Grand Prairie is a long drive away, close to five hours one way. And I believe I am the most northern Alberta member. If it's in Edmonton, or close, I can do it. Grand Prairie would take some serious convincing.

recommendations for front shocks, preferably HD

That was another consideration I should have mentioned. I'll never forget the sweetest, lucky corner I ever hit. Heading west on Argyll, turning left onto 75th Street. Intersection wide open. Driving a recently purchased '70 Newport convertible, with a good 440, and sticky, not recently adjusted...

Our 78 Newport gets a Sniper. WiP though

Damn welded on hitches! I've dealt with those too, no fun. The worst was the '71 Polara parts car I bought. It had a full skid plate covering the tank welded on! I've been wanting to do what you are doing too! And will definitely be taking notes. Is the original + coil wire not switched? I'm...

recommendations for front shocks, preferably HD

Well, Damn. Now I feel like a sucker for buying OEM Monroe's all these years. I have known of the KYB's, but never splurged. Next time. New Monroe's are always better than the old one's! And cheap. They do the job.

FOR SALE VALVE COVERS OFF OF A 400 CI NEWPORT MINT

I just noticed the vinyl roof has padding. Do you know what the deal is with that? The paint also looks on the fresh side. Low mile refresh?

FOR SALE VALVE COVERS OFF OF A 400 CI NEWPORT MINT

Gotta be more than just valve covers left, right? Steering knuckles from those models are particularly sought after. Nice Mirada wheels will always be worth something too.

FOR SALE VALVE COVERS OFF OF A 400 CI NEWPORT MINT

That's a '73 with tits so, almost, if not right on the line at 19 feet. And I agree, how do you miss that!? I guess they didn't miss it, unfortunately. I read alot about driving psychology, and oddly enough, alot of people are drawn to bright colours and lights like moths. Those flatbed pickup's...

    Saturday window repair

I second that, not sure if it's "visqueen", but I use heavy poly, and as a cheat, I use 1/2"x1/16" two sided foam tape, rather than contact cement.
