So she is back on the road. It turned out that I wired the distributor wrong. I know the big blocks go counter counterclockwise. I just wired it in reverse order. She runs like a new car now
I love it! It's your car and unless they are paying for it do what you want to it. My 64 will gat a ghost lace paint on the roof and air ride when I done with showing it off all original survivor.
So I found the problem. I was getting week spark. I switch up to an electronic distributor and it solved my problem. It sucks that it's not all original with it. But she has never run so good. But at least it's a licensed distributor.
Having a hard time finding belts for my 64 Imperial. The new alternator has a smaller pulley and I need to get shorter belts. I can find them with teeth but i can't find the smooth v-belt. Does it make a difference?
When this started that was one of the first things I did cause I know the rear main leaks a little and I didn't want to drop the transmission at the time I did the gaskets.
Ok if I put my hands over the carb it died. If I spray carb cleaner it died. I sprayed the carb cleaner around the manifold and heads and on all the vacuum lines I could fine and nothing. No sudden surge nothing. I'll see if I can upload some videos i took while i did what you suggested. I also...
Not to sound like a noob. But I had drove alot of miles with no problem and it was like a switch flipped. The carb did get a second rebuild. We had a problem with the distributor and thought the carb might be it so they took it apart and redid it.
When I had the gaskets and carb done and I believe most of the vacuum lines were replaced. I drove it over 500 miles. 2 1/2 weeks when I got done driving it and parked it. Hopped in a week later and went to drive it when all this started.
I didn't hear anything from the break booster. But now I'm having a hard time getting it started. That just started after I put the alternator back on. I'm having problems finding all the vacuum lines.
I dont believe its flooding. It literally sounds like I have a massive cam in it and it would chug a couple 3 or 4 times and die in gear. In neutral or park or driving above 3 to 4 mph it is fine.
Lights dimming is not just at low rpms. Everything was running perfectly put about 500 miles on it sence doing the gaskets and carb rebuild. I drove it two weeks ago everything perfect. Then went to drive it in to work last week when it started acting up. With the car in gear anything under...
