    Steering wheel repair

Hmmm, my work. After seeing some good work on this site, I am often discouraged to display my own. I did spend five years on a total resto on an MGA...and did the body off work from welding to paint.....came out OK, but not professional......oh well. I have to wait just a bit to use the 2k...

    Steering wheel repair

So mine was medium bad, with some quarter inch gaps, and cracks. So, eastwood repair kit. The epoxy is great for the big gaps and is very slow to dry, so is not friendly for multiple apps. So, after getting the main repairs done, I switched to bondo for MANY repetitions of fills and sanding...

    Console cover fasteners

I may have gotten an answer by working on the shifter cover on console. There are push nuts galore underneath. So, I only had metric push nuts and 4mm is very tight. 3/16 is quite a bit larger, prob too much, so will try to open up the 4mm just a taste and see what we get....but thinking...

    Console cover fasteners

I hate to always ask the dumb questions......My car has been disassembled quite a bit over the life of the 66 sport fury. I keep hoping to find something original....maybe the engine?? Does anyone know what type nutz were used on the die cast console lid studs. Mine had a couple of different...

Rear seat back on sport fury

Amazing to change colors and repaint so often. Kinda like my surprise to find that what I thought were OEM seat covers were actually over the originals, of a slightly different color. Also, I had no idea that any of these cars came with a white roof....but will now pay more attention to the...

Rear seat back on sport fury

A beautiful car.....great job. I notice you have no horn ring. What type horn button did you install, or is that just a trim piece in the center......I will be fighting that after I re-do my steering wheel, a job for a bit later. Real nice. Also interesting that you painted the roof white...

    Rear seat remove again

My rod latch setup is quite tough, and hard to bend. Both rods are currently at an angle...not perpendicular to car line. So, I used a pipe wrench on the rods behind the latch portion, bent that and pulled the rods straight with the seat base. This moved them about 1/4 inch back. I just...

    My carpet fun

Thanks Big John....I was going to use a hot socket, but tried the reverse core drill, still pulled fiber, so just cut with a knife. Not sure if the hot job would go thru the jute pad or not....but I am at the end now.....aaargh. And, you are right on the heat gun, I was able to make SMALL...

    My carpet fun

Got the carpet with mass backing, makes it quite heavy and not very pliable. I am thinking that next time not the heavy stuff. And, and, and, I want to try next time to get separate padding. I tried to remove the padding anywhere I had to drill, cut or need to be thin....but I missed some...

    Cowl fresh air venting

The cowl bowl is divided into three regions; the center has a crevice below the wiper motor that you can easily get something into, to clean to the flap hole in the firewall. But, both sides drain into the vent region that is a large cave behind the vent doors. There are small indents that...

Rear seat back on sport fury

Well thank you gentlemen....I thought that the hooks required the seat back to move up, not down for remove. I will get on it.....thanks muchly.

    Rear seat remove again

With the seat loose, and front seats out of the way, you can easily see the rods and latches. Mine have too much compression, and with the seat pushed back, are on the outer edge of the fixed latch plates. I am going to bend one side about 3/8 and the other 1/4 to relieve them a bit before...

Rear seat back on sport fury

There is a large trim piece on top of the seat back that appears to be attached to the deck panel. Anyone pull this apart and have some thoughts for me. If the seat has to lift off of brackets, it means this trim has to go first. When I was young, I would just charge ahead, often at my...

    Cowl fresh air venting

I have been chastised for silly questions, but have another. I am fighting the water intrusion from the cowl that rusted my driver side floor, and will now pull the kick panels to install carpet. I have not yet pulled the cowl, and am wondering how the huge amount of leaves get into the vent...

Holes in the floors, or in my head

I usta have to travel to the tank plant in detroit, or just north....tried to get the hard heads to come up with a new main battle tank that weighed in at less than 80 tons, and get lean like the russians. But, they just kept the path. And now, I am dealing with the myriad round holes in the...

    Rear seat remove again

I am going to see where the rods are when I push back, and then adjust them to get about 1/8 inch of latch....and not a bit more. I suspect they were sprung into the catch and you could not push this seat back.....gonna fix that.
