@GOLDMYN Very nice black on black with console, tach and power windows, deluxe steering wheel and original hubcaps. Not many built like that I bet:thumbsup:

For all you fender tag lovers! Tag from my 1968 Chrysler

Nice car. Mine is Scorch Red with a black vinyl top built in October 67. The red buffs out really nice. It's interesting to see other 68 New Yorkers with different options. Your bucket seat car is worth saving no matter what issues it has:-)

    1968 Chrysler New Yorker purchase

Nice find. It looks like the owner took really good care of that one. Love the bucket seats and console! Mine came with the Holley 4160 and it has been an issue even after I rebuilt it once so that's probably why they changed yours over to a Carter.

68 New Yorker 440 is out of tune

Here's what I'm working with. It starts up with two pumps of the pedal and one or two turns. I rebuilt it last year so I wouldn't go to the extent of replacing it already. The fuel pump is only about 3 years old and the distributor, points and plugs are new.

68 New Yorker 440 is out of tune

Thanks for the tips. I have rebuilt the carb with a rebuild kit so there are no damaged parts on the carb that I can tell. I do agree with the O-ring issue. They leak there quite often. How do I know if a power valve gasket is not seated or is blown. Its only a year old at this point.

68 New Yorker 440 is out of tune

Thanks Cbody67, I have been in the garage working on keeping it running so I can check the idle and timing. I can't keep it running enough to test the vacuum pressure. I may have had one of the vacuum lines going to the wrong place as well but it turned out that it wasn't making any difference.

68 New Yorker 440 is out of tune

Thanks Dave. To clarify, I just recently rebuilt the carb with a kit so debris and corrosion are non existent. The float inside looked brand new and there are no leaks at the current time. I don't have much time after starting it to check the choke or other adjustments before it stalls out.

68 New Yorker 440 is out of tune

Recently, my Holley 4160 carb started leaking with some older gaskets so I rebuilt it with the blue gaskets, soaked it and had every part out on the table. I set the float per specific measurements and all that. So when I put it back on the 440 and set the idle screws (backed out 1 1/2 turns)...

It´s time for the Slab picture thread

I've been working on my 68 New Yorker all summer (and the past 7 years)rebuilding, tuning, cleaning and buffing. Here are a couple of recent pics.

What are you working on today??

When I found mine, the owner said the exact same thing. The heater core was leaking so they bypassed it by connecting the heater hoses together. I have yet to test that out. I poured water into the cowl as a test and found lots of water came straight on to the floor behind the dash. I sealed...

What are you working on today??

I've spent some time getting the interior ready for new sound insulation and carpeting on my 68 New Yorker. There was a leak coming in from the cowl that destroyed the original carpet and padding up front so I had tore that part out piece by piece when I first found the car. No more leaks.

    Just picked up a 68 300...

Nice find and in relatively good shape. Here's a vote to save this original car.

    1968 Fury- new here

Looking really nice. Did you rechrome the arm rest backing part? Yours look good but mine are losing the chrome. Also, did you go with the OEM braking system or make changes?

    1968 Fury- new here

Nice looking '68! Did you use sound deadener and then glue the carpet down or just use the heat to mold it?

    440 Valve cover bolt needed

Thanks! I have the car out and have been making some adjustments the past couple days. I had to not only fix the bowl vent but also start over with the idle air-fuel mixture screw positions. I still cannot get it to idle before it stalls out. I will check further into the specifics for the carb.

Thanks. Haha. That’s actually the location of the air conditioning brace. I painted that awhile back and will put it on tonight.
