    383 cui 2bbl replacement

Thanks for the advice and video description. No problem to understand your accent, I spent a couple of summers in USA as a student and later on attending some exhibitions. In Dobris is good local airfield. However, I was pretty busy travelling as better covid situation allows me to travel...

    383 cui 2bbl replacement

The second part of my questions is related to the vacuum choke setting. I should test its functionality by sucking the air from the hose, to see if it makes anything, well next time I will try. But I´m more concerned about the play on the end of its tracks. The metal rod going from the manifold...

    383 cui 2bbl replacement

I will follow up on this thread I started a few years back :) I recently made some carb-tuning with some new knowledge and have a couple of questions I hope you might clarify. 1. Should be the idle speed and all the play with the mixture screws, done while the transmission is on Neutral? I...

After some time, I got to play with the carb some more. The last attempt have this details. Base timming set at 18 degrees BTDC at idle 630RPM and vacuum little nervous at 20 inch. The timming at idle does not change, if vaccuum is connected, or disconnected and plugged. I did not check the...

    383 cui 2bbl replacement

I will check the spark plugs, their replacement is on my to do list for few years, although I think they works well. Dwell? I have electronic points in distributor installed, so its nothing I should worry about, right? I will check again the timing with air cleaner on/off, perhaps I did not...

    383 cui 2bbl replacement

Thanks for quick reaction. I put the signal collector probably too far from spark plug 1 as shown on the picture. Should it be as close to the spark plus as possible?

    383 cui 2bbl replacement

Thanks for inputs everyone. Coming back to the topic, I had finally a some time to play with the timming gun and idle adjustment. As a first step, I have increased the idle speed up to 720RPM without gear engaged, it goes down to around 660RPM with the D selected. Numbers are with the air...

    383 cui 2bbl replacement

Thanks everyone for their inputs. I got the timing gun with RPM indication and possibility of advance setting. So far I was able to make a very quick test after a driving, so the engine was warmed up well. The idle RPM is probably bit too low, it has run at 430RPM and after pushing the pedal...

    383 cui 2bbl replacement

Hi thank you for detailed advice. The car appear to have around 97k miles now and I made complete resto 7? years ago. The engine was checked and found in good condition. Since then, I put around 5k miles on it. The previous owner switched to electronic ignitions already, so thats sorted out...

    383 cui 2bbl replacement

I changed the oil recently and hooked up the air pressure gauge to check the carb setting. What I found on youtube, the shaking needle indicates the wrong idle mixture screw, while values close to 15 are related to late timming setting. I have no RPM meter to check what the idle RMP are right...

Hissing noise coming from power brake booster interior boot.

Continue with the old thread, I have the same problem on my 69 Polara. Last night when cruising, enjoying one of the last warm nights with the top down, I have noticed this hissing sound when stopped at the lights. Further, I started to have feeling the brakes are not working proper way...

    Just bought an EFI

I just wonder with these self learning EFI kits, what happend if you kill the battery with the switch? Does it have a internal memory to keep the data, or the self-learning process starts all over again once you connect the battery back?

    383 cui 2bbl replacement

Its time to make a update. The axle shaft play ended up sorted very well and upper part was rebuild by a friend. We installed the carb last Sunday and so far everything is perfect. The car runs great, the shifting become very smooth at light throttle, like never before, probably due elimination...

    383 cui 2bbl replacement

In the end, I'm going to rebuild my original carburetor. I found a local guy who will take care of the throttle shaft play and bought the rebuild kit for the upper part. Will report results once done, thanks to everyone for help so far.

    383 cui 2bbl replacement

Hi, thanks for the tip. The seller confirmed he can set up the carb for my car. He runs it on his 454cui Chevy, for example. What are the flaws of this swap, beside using Ford parts on Mopar? Air cleaner fitment?

    383 cui 2bbl replacement

Do you see any improvement in performance going from stock 350cfm 2bbl? I know this is about the only choice from new 2bbl carburetors, but my friend discourage me from this type which tends to starts to be leaking in few years. I might found somebody who is capable to make a quality job on...

    383 cui 2bbl replacement

Are you referring to this kit? Carburetor Throttle Shaft Repair Kit 5/16" ZA-01 Does it really works? It seems too easy process, to have the throttle shaft fitted correctly using these bushings. But it should, considering they ask for the tool around 170USD and it comes in kit with bushings...

    383 cui 2bbl replacement

I love how active this forum is. Not sure if the offer is still valid, but found this NOS carburetor for sale on this site. Would it work with my engine? Or what Carter PN would work? Is there something I should be carefull about on old NOS carburetors? Like gaskets dried out? For Sale - NOS...

    383 cui 2bbl replacement

Thanks for all the comments so far. I went to duals because I love the V8 sound. Was not duals a option for 2bbl? Anyway, for now look for as easy and fast swap as possible, which should be bolt on 2bbl. It's tempting to go with 4barrel, but that require more parts/work/time then would prefer...
