Is this an OK way to reinforce a front sub-frame?

If you enjoy doing that kind of work and a heavier frame is your objective OK I guess. But my question would still be, why would you go to all that effort if all you have is surface rust on the frame? As long as I've had my two old cars the frames have always been cupped front and back from PO...

A Wrapup of Goodbye and Good Riddance

Couldn't agree more. Have left the drums on both my old rides with no issues. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

Let me know your thoughts, tire sizes

I agree with the above post. In terms of looks my own view is lower is not better since my preference is staying close to factory specs. I wouldn't go any less than the 70s but if your looking for that lowered boy racer look of the 60s profile, go for it. In the end, if the car looks good to you...

    69 Monaco tire size

I recall shopping for tires for my Polara and Monaco and 235/75/15 tires had a heavy duty rating when compared to smaller tires. I have that size with white side lines on both my cars for the factory look.

    finally got my new wheels

Nice score on the rims. I put a set of turbines on the Monaco. I've since changed to Road Wheels. I might change again to Magnum 500s. Be sure to post pics once they are on the car. This will give you a bit of a preview of what to expect.

    Road wheels on EBay

The wheels look to be in good shape. New tires likely accounts for the price being at the high end. The tire size is less than ideal for our applications.

    How to identify road wheels

The price varies but I've seen them in similar condition at swap meets for as little as $25/per without rings & centres. If you clean them up and paint them I'd say at least double that. My .02.

    How to identify road wheels

Stiff wire brush on angle grinders should clean up the back side of those nicely.

I may get shot down but I really like this look!

Seems a bit too modern for your model IMHO but hey if it turns your crank...

    Should I get wider tires?

235 vs 225 is a matter of preference. As mention I believe 235 has higher weight rating. I have 235s on both mine.

    Should I get wider tires?

235/75/15 with 1" white stripes is on both my cars. As stated you can't go wrong with these HD tires if you are seeking a nice stock look. They run beautifully on the road.
