    Heat issues

Not familiar with ‘69 to know if the resistors for the different blower speeds are in the switch or on the heater box (‘68). Usually one speed points to the resistors. Also if your blower motor is shot and drawing a lot of amps, it will burn the resistors (usually coils of wire). Check the FSM...

    Radiator Overheat.

With the outer fan lower air flow and directly in front of your other fan, could it actually be blocking/ restricting air flow? The airflow is likely not additive. Also if you do a shroud the diameter when inline with the fan should have minimal clearance for the best airflow coverage...

    Electric fan recommendations?

Will likely cause more issues leaving it than taking a center punch trying to get exactly in the middle and drilling a pilot hole and progressively getting bigger. If you can find a left hand drill bit (many times found in ez out kits) progressively go bigger being careful not to get into the...

1970 300 w/440 running at 220 normal? Is 225 OK stopped in traffic?

If you are truly up into the 230’s I would expect it would cause your radiator cap to vent and spit coolant I was wrong a 16psi cap should give you up to 268 degrees F before boiling.

Coolant coming from fuel pump area, 383

Your heads have a soft plug on each end. I am guessing the right front one gave way. Improper install on the rebuild or if not touched likely rusted through. Take the alternator off and you should see it. Can’t believe an exhaust manifold bolt would leak that much if it is still threaded in. (...

68 Chrysler HVAC box removal FRUSTRATED

In the ‘68, Even getting the new one is a *****. If you look closely there should be some perforated seams. (Except they are probably on the back side where you can’t see them. You have to start creasing on those to start collapsing. The issue is the old box is likely a little brittle and May...

    50 year-old stock cooling system

I think you misunderstood me. I do not have a over heat issue with my standard equipment. On that hot day it cooled perfectly. The radiator did not boil or loose fluid nor did it over heat. I don’t get excited until it gets above the third mark. My gauge even though it doesn’t have numbers is...

    50 year-old stock cooling system

I have an almost stock cooling system in my '68 Polara. I don't have A/C or a fan shroud and is the 22" radiator. The only upgrade was a recore with the third row. Highway at 97 degree's ambient the gauge is just past the middle mark. Waiting at the drive through for 10 minutes behind...

    Radiator Recore Cost

I got my radiator back ended up going from a 2 core 22” to a high efficiency 3 core so the total bill was $700. $25 of it was probably shipping the new core. Plus he fixed my over flow hose retainers on the side bracket. They are the only show in about 200 miles. I am happy with it. On the...

    Radiator Recore Cost

I guess it is only two 10 hour days to get there and two 10 hour days to get back. I don’t quite have 20 hour days in me anymore. Ohhh the peer pressure!

    Radiator Recore Cost

My turn for a recore. About 15 year ago I had it flushed and repaired, in the process they capped off a couple of tubes that were past repair. I was thinking I would do it this winter, but it is now starting to seep. In another area. Not dripping on the floor yet, but probably not far away...

    '68 Newport heater core

The local radiator shop guy found one for my '68, although this was in 2008. I don't have a brand, only a number #9101 Way less than re-coring. was a perfect fit. I don't know the brand. As said above get the seals and gaskets from DMT. I was one of the first to work with him to get the...

    Painting wheel wells

I found a picture of the inside wheel well. It was body color then undercoated. Of course if you Are under coating black, it doesn’t really matter what color is under, but should be painted for extra protection if the under coat starts lifting or chipping. For the restoration my rears were...

    Painting wheel wells

My ‘68 wheel well tubs were painted body color inside and out and then under coated from the factory. Of course the uppers in the engine bay are also car / firewall color. For the restore they used single stage for under car, firewall, and under hood. Hard to sand out the clear in those areas.
