Cheers for the heads up. I was only trying to get her running at this stage. She is still a ways away from being driven. All advise is good advise though, so thanks again to everyone who is helping me :D :)

    Edelbrock 1405 Carb

I'm glad we cleared that up. I just might cancel the order if it doesn't ship tomorrow and will go to O'Reilly and pay a bit more ($100 or so) just to get back on track. I like this car a lot and am impatient to get it running right, at least. :) For today though, I got the smoker going and...

    Edelbrock 1405 Carb

That information is very helpful as I tried to rebuild my (Weber) carb with a standard kit - I was thinking I had lost the plot when I couldn't do such an easy task. As I said, going for a new carb to avoid the issues, and if - one day - I can find the right kit, I will grab an intake manifold...

    Edelbrock 1405 Carb

Mine is stamped as a Weber, I'm wondering if this could be why my rebuild failed.

    Edelbrock 1405 Carb

Are these carbs made by Weber or by another company for the USA market. If different, does anyone know of any compatibility issues between the 2?

    Hard to fill fuel tank

back in the day when I pumped gas there were a few models of cars with fillers behind the rear bumper - these were always a buggar to fill. If you pumped to fast they would give you a nice gas shower. Slow and easy was the only way to go. Having said that, though, I would definitely try Jon...

    Kinda a newbie question

Okay, now I am REALLY confused. From pics on here of carbs/engines etc. I see most Edelbrocks are stamped as 'Made in the USA' - mine does not have this, it has "Weber" but it's also stamped and badged as a 1405 Edelbrock. I looked up Weber and pre '92 they were made in Italy. I know the name...

    Kinda a newbie question

Yep, I only ran the rubber line as a temporary to confirm there was no blockage it the original line. As there appears to be none I will be using the original line. Thanks for the advice on the vacuum lines, I did not know gas lines wouldn't work. I think actual fuel flow is sufficient and...

    Kinda a newbie question

Picked up a rebuild kit for the Eddy - it wont be here for a week though. Kinda dubious about the quality as I've seen a few dodgy ones sold online. Got this through Walmart (stop laughing) for under $20. Even if turns out to be total garbage, what the heck, eh :) I can ream out a few...

    Kinda a newbie question

I'm thinking I may have mistaken the last zero for a mold mark as there are no other numbers anywhere that relate to a dot number. In that case, they are from the 39th week of 2000. There is some minor signs of perishing an inch or so out from the rim, so either they've been run low of are...

Holy crap, my tire code is EJRF-CFK370, does that mean they are the original tires or am I interpreting it wrong?

    Kinda a newbie question

My manual says to Never jack or support the car using the frame... where are the actual support/jack points? I jacked mine up under the diff and put stands under the front of the rear spring hangers to do the gas tank. I need to drop off the rear wheels to do the brake cylinders, where is the...

    Kinda a newbie question

as to brakes, I popped a rear wheel cylinder - so I bought 2 new ones to replace both sides... lol

    Kinda a newbie question

Thinking out loud here Shouldn't it start without the gas pedal being pumped? the pump seems to be able to supply enough gas to let it rev and hold revs I thought about the fuel pump once I saw the state of the tank - so I bought a new one, just haven't installed it yet as the old one seems to...
