    It's too bad you're on the other side of the world from me. I have a complete 383 on an engine stand that ran really well before I pulled it from my 66 300 to replace it with a correct 440. Other than a carburetor, it's totally complete.

    Yes. The 516 heads will be fine. You should select a dual pattern cam with a little more exhaust duration than intake. I'm running this setup in my 66 300 with a 440 and a 2.94 rear gear. Terrific throttle response and it cruises great.

    Mike: I think you will be very happy sticking with your original 516 heads. I did that with my '66 300, and it has worked out great.

    Yes. I should have noted that the marine two-cycle oil to use should have the TC-W3 additive package. Again - use one ounce per five gallons. You could use Marvel Mystery Oil, but it would be very expensive as compared with the marine oil from WalMart.
