    Looking to raise front end

Too, Dad is right about a lot of things but man you have a better eye than me- in that photo I posted I'd say the door gaps are looking pretty good...

    Looking to raise front end

Roger. I hear you on the bumper jack sketch factor. I only use it to raise the car and put blocks etc. to support it. With the sag at the wheels it seems like I'm 3 ft. up before I can get the wheel off the ground- you could push the car over with your pinky finger! But it is a handy way to...

    Looking to raise front end

This is good info. Where the car is (Mexico) there aren't great mechanic options. It can be scary. I try to do everything myself. I've got the service manual so I can follow those instructions. Looking forward to a lot of up and down w/ the floor jack:)

    Looking to raise front end

When you say raise the car- you mean get the weight off the front wheels, correct? I still only use the bumper jack for the front end.

    Looking to raise front end

the doors all work. Although we mostly dukes of hazzard the rear seat and only use the front doors. I do have 14 inch wheels. Might be my suspension is so worn and tired that having the extra bodies in the car pushes it down too much for the speed bumps. It's never a problem with just the...

    Looking to raise front end

Well that's fantastic that that adjustment nut is there. I'll play around with it and hopefully won't have to pursue other options.

    Looking to raise front end

Haa! I won't go that far. You're right- suspension has never been done. I was told (mostly by my dad) that if I cut the roof off the first dip I hit and the car's gonna bend in half. It's actually just fine. No bendy. I don't think I need any reinforcement. Proof is in the car. I've...

    Looking to raise front end

Got a chance to watch the video posted by Rubberduck. WE GOT OURSELVES A CONVOY HERE!!!!!! Love it! Anyways, that guy is claiming like 7-8 inches height. I will do this. AND, let me take a look at all the suspension parts. For sure those things need attention- my car has been down in Baja...

    Looking to raise front end

Just curious, what exactly is the effect from the driver's seat of tightening the torsion bar adjuster? Again, don't know nothing about suspension, starting from scratch here.

    Looking to raise front end

wow!! That is hilarious!!! Someone has a great sense of humor and a big pocket book. This is good info. What do you mean by "make a torsion bar key" and "making a spindle with a lower spud is an option"?

    Looking to raise front end

good to know. This is where I'll start. I may want even more height than the torsion bar adjuster can offer.

    Looking to raise front end

1/I've never changed the tire size in my life- always rolled with what was on there to begin with. I can guarantee= stock/oem size. 2/No one has examined the suspension components. I'm sure they need attention. But I don't think that replacing bushings, tie rods, etc. will give me the...

    Looking to raise front end

This is the best I can do. Haven't photo'd the car in a while as I'm in the process of a sort of restoration. Tons of photos of the engine area.

    Looking to raise front end

rigid and clearance? I agree- all that stuff you mentioned should be replaced. And, will do. Still looking for a way to raise the front end a touch (2-3 inches). My car lives down in Mexico. They have tons of speed bumps just like we do and they also have a LOT of them that are like what...

    Looking to raise front end

I had read that adjusting the torsion bars to gain height would stiffen the ride. Makes sense as you would be tightening the spring action of the torsion bar. But, I cannot speak to this as I've never done it. I'm looking for another solution to gain clearance and I don't want to stiffen...

    Looking to raise front end

Awesome!! Thanks for the link- I will watch later today (busy day...). I agree that probably most of my front end bushings etc. need replacing. BUT, it's more of a clearance issue. EG we bottom out going 1 mph. The long wheel base and some of the extreme speed bumps I run into don't match...

    Looking to raise front end

Front suspension is an area where I know nothing. I'd like to raise the front end of my '68 Fury 4-door. When we go over speed bumps everyone except the driver has to get out of the car or we bottom-out. I LOVE the soft, swaying boat like handling. Don't want to change that. I've read...

    Rear coilovers for C-body

For what it's worth, I installed air shocks similar to these on my '68 Fury 4-door sedan: https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/NS_MA828 They were like 60 bucks at the time I bought them. They worked fine for about 6 or 7 years until the air fill-line broke; I never fixed them. My '68 Fury was...
