2023 the year of no progress for the ‘68

Isaiah, If sound financial advice is what you’re looking for here, then get out of the old car hobby. From a purely financial perspective, and as much as I hate to say it, Jakter is not wrong. You will likely not come out ahead financially speaking on these cars. Now if you are here for...

2023 the year of no progress for the ‘68

@Isaiah Estrada I inherited my 68 300 when I was 24 or so. I enjoyed it while I could, but then the engine really went south and it was going to be way too expensive for me to repair it. Then I met the love of my life at 27, got married, and had a couple of great kids. The car just sat… and...

    What are these?

I am thinking that is what they are. There were two cube bushings in my ‘box of stuff’ too. Looking at pics online seems like you put me on the right path. Thank you!

    What are these?

Going through a boxes of parts and supplies and came across this package of bushings (I think they’re bushings). No manufacturer listed in the bag, just a part number: KB404 1090301A Any idea what this might be? The pic is everything that was in the bag. I have a 1968 300 convertible.

COVID Chrysler update - advice requested

My only comment is to wear a respirator when chipping away at the underbody coating. I am in the hazardous materials industry and there can be a lot of asbestos in that material. Be safe!

I should have provided an update…. The TS cancelling cam repair lasted exactly one left turn. :BangHead:

Pullys info wanted, deleting my ac, 1968 New Yorker

I deleted the AC on my ‘68 300 when I had the engine rebuilt. Many, many reasons why I didn’t want/need it anymore. The mechanic that rebuilt the engine did all the work so I don’t have many details, but I am happy to take any pics or measurements that you might find helpful. Sounds like...

    '68 Fury Wagon tank capacity

I don’t know about the wagon, but my ‘68 300 tank is 23 gallons. I would think a wagon would be at least that much.

    Turn Signal Repair

Welp….. that didn’t last long. Took the car out for a cruise today. First left turn, the signal held. Next one, I had to hold it down. Oh well…. At least I gained some skill and confidence with working on my column.

    Turn Signal Repair

One of the reasons I fell short of pulling out the entire turn signal switch was I could not remove the TS lever. I didn’t see any pins so I assumed it would unscrew, but it wouldn’t budge. Anyone have any tips on how to get the lever off of this switch (just in case my JB Weld repair doesn’t...

    Turn Signal Repair

I got a repop turn signal canceling cam for my ‘68 300 with tilt/telescope steering column (thank you @marty mopar ). I have never pulled a steering wheel, let alone worked on the inside of the column. I studied lots of YouTube videos, bought a steering wheel puller/compression tool, and got...

    Need help identifying this wire.

I also have a 68 300 so I looked through my FSM as well. That ‘T’ connector is not very common in the engine compartment from what I can tell. Where I did see it on the wiring diagram was a part of the Sentenial lighting system, which I don’t have in my car. I am wondering if by chance it was a...

Abandoned for 40 years: 1968 New Yorker 2 DR

Hey there Isaiah. I like your style kid, you definitely have moxie and great taste in cars. I have often said I’d rather hire a guy who can rebuild and engine over a guy with an engineering degree. Keep preserving on this project and it will open up doors for you far beyond just driving a cool...

    Convertible repair work

Cant say what is easier, but all the instructions and videos I found say to do it down.... so that’s what I did. It was pretty easy. The one difficulty I had was getting the pin back in place that connects the piston the the top frame. Smaller hands would have had an easier time.

    Convertible repair work

they didn’t charge a core fee or expect to have the old cylinders back so I would venture to guess they are more in the business of sales over repairs. But you could always poke around on their web page and take a deeper look: Hydro-E-Lectric

    Convertible repair work

picked it up from www.seatbeltsplus.com. It’s not a perfect replica for this era, but they are the ‘lift buckle’ type. My car has enough modifications to it that I am not overly focused on having OEM parts. I actually purchased 3 and swapped out the two original ones in the back seat since...
