Any opinion on whitewall versus blackwall

I’ve painted whitewalls black in the past. That said I’m fully in favor of redlines...

To stagger or not to stagger? That is the question.

I think he might’ve meant raise the car and let the axle drop/hang. That’s the only way I can get my tires off the back of my 69 conv and they’re only 235 70’s. I use a scissor jack off a newer car. Just can’t raise it up under the pumpkin like an ebody.

To stagger or not to stagger? That is the question.

Thanks and Yes 70’s. Not sure if a 275 will fit but the b bodies swallow them up and the C’s used to have those super tall cop tires. The 235 60’s looked short and fat. 235 70 15 looks great on a 7 inch rim. You can see that from the front 3/4 shot. I was 18 when those were took.

To stagger or not to stagger? That is the question.

Here’s some old pics of my first real car. 235 70 15 vs 275 60 15 definite rake and on a 15x7 wheel that 275 is one big tire. I ran 391’s and that tall tire helped on the freeway. Remember a super wide tire on the front won’t want to turn as much. Sorry about the black n white. This was...

    Let's see your original tires

You just haven’t been to the right shop yet LoL!!! I’ve had best luck for basic appliance type cars (the wife’s) at Discount Tire it’s called America’s Tire here in SoCal for some reason. They’re top tier but you gotta watch them like a hawk. My best luck for important cars is race or Mom &...

    Stupid tapered axles

Hate to say it but our go to fix on non stock 50’s cars has been throwing in a phord 9 inch. In Az were lucky to have the 9 inch store. The make them in any length and the aftermarket support is phenomenal. Even our 55-7 Chebbies have 9 inchers.

    Manual drum to disc conversion

I disagree with 'any'. I've driven a number of newer rental cars in the last few years, and although I've done no scientific testing of their braking, I'd put my 68 up against any modern plain SUV or plain commuter car. Some might do better, but I believe some will do worse. You could argue...

    Rear leaf spring shackles

Okay I was looking at these and figured I’d pour some gas on the fire. Anybody ever use these? I never have. PS; that’s not my commentary printed on the pics LoL! That’s a 69 Charger by the way.

    Rear leaf spring shackles

LoL the 1970’s are calling. That was the way a lot of my buddies jacked up their cars back in the day. Air shocks and big ol shackles. I don’t know where you’d find those now. A shop like Dunbar spring in Arizona might know. I last went there in ‘90 or so for 8&3/4 U bolts - they know what...

    68 300 power brakes

That’s completely true. I was just throwing out a fast & cheap alternative. Guess I should know the turnaround rebuild time before I assume it’ll be glacial. My bad. For what it’s worth: The Ford got the napa booster going strong for 8 years now. The Fury got the carquest booster couple years...

    68 300 power brakes

I say go to an old school Napa or car quest. The kind in an industrial complex. Not some place where the kid asks if it’s a v6 or v8 before looking up your wipers. I got both boosters for my 69 Fury and my 71 Torino that way. We had to order them but they both fit perfectly and have worked great...

    68 300 power brakes

Check out this month’s Mopar Action magazine. Dr Ehrenberg did a whole big article on drum to disc on an A100 van or pickup but he goes over all the different kits to install including C bodies. His kit uses your spindles w your hubs w drum removed. No breaking the front end apart. Check out...

    Manual drum to disc conversion

I’ve been beat up here before about this but I’ll still say it again because it’s true. Going to circa 1966 power disc is not a magic bullet. If you’re going to go to all the trouble to switch over then go with modern parts. Unless you’re doing a 100% OEM resto then what I’m saying is of no help...
