It got a little hot on yesterday's test drive so I picked up a thermostat thinking it was stuck. Nope, not stuck, not even there! Runs nice and cool now. Even washed it. Cleaned up well!

Was running a little rough so I figured I'd pull the plugs for a compression check. Well found the number 7 plug had no gap. So a new set of plugs and wires should do it. Compression was good.

Yes as long as I can find the time. The silver paint job is horrible so it needs to be painted or else it makes me look bad! I could live with the silver if it was nice, but it's not.

Wow! Beautiful car! Nice and clean inside and out. Your trunk rust is very minor. Clean it up and paint it and you're good to go. Carpet is a good way to go and also after you wash it or it rains make sure you dry any water if it gets in.

Lugnuts ordered. I decided to go with the chrome wheels because I like them but mostly because the rear tires are good so I only have to replace the two fronts since they are out of date and have a little bit of cracking. Fine around town but I'm not taking them on the freeway.

Well I figured since the tires on the chrome rims are good enough to run around town on I'd throw them on. Ran into a problem I hadn't even thought about, both left front and rear still have lefthand studs and so no lugnuts for them. Always something.

Ok, I have to buy tires for it and need to decide what rims to use. Stock Steel rims with wheel covers or I have a set of road wheels and a set of chrome wheels. If I stick with the wheel covers I need to find one more so if anyone has one they will sell let me know. What do you think?

Welded the muffler back on and it sounds so much better! Tomorrow I'll order a kit for the carburetor. Had it up on my lift and it confirmed my suspicions of previous rust repairs. Lower quarters have been patched with homemade panels. A bit crude looking underneath but overall a passable job...

Ok took it for a test drive. Put about 4 miles on it and it ran pretty decent overall. Especially considering there's no muffler on it, vacuum advance doesn't work and the mixture screws don't adjust the carb. Can't get the idle down to where it needs to be. But brakes are good, transmission...

Went out this morning and it started right up with no fuel leaking out. Float must've freed up. Sounds decent. Will now adjust carb and possibly do plugs and wires. We'll see what it needs.

I tried that and no luck. I'll try again in the morning, maybe all that gas in there will lubricate it. Otherwise it might have a hole and filled up with gas.

Changed out the fuel pump and it sounded pretty good for about a minute and a half and then starting puking fuel out the carburetor. My guess is a sunken float. Time for a carb rebuild I guess.

Yes, I'm planning on getting it running good and then painting it back to the original Q4 turquoise and driving it. Not going to be a show car just a nice driver.

I am but not right away. First I want to fix the mechanical issues and drive it for awhile. I also have to finish the 70 cuda trunk floor job for a customer.

And I did just now get the hood lined up. Opens and closes good now. Next I'm putting the front bumper back on (he took it off to tow it he said) and then install the fuel pump and hopefully take it for a test drive.
