5x5 recall looking wheel for imperial

Did those early 1970's Oldsmobile cars (not sation wagons perhaps) have a 5" bolt circle?

    what year are these tires?

To identify tires manufactured in the 1990's, a decade symbol (a triangle on its side) is located at the end of the DOT serial number.

1970 Fury, Evidence of Fender Bender

It would just be a nice touch if Cooper Cobras were round. Which they aren't. At least the ones I bought new 2019 are terrible tires being out of round and side-to-side while the rim is perfectly straight.

    what master cylinder is this?

Also: Square end of reservoir pointing to firewall + round end of reservoir pointing to front = original (for 71-75 C-Bodies). So the one currently installed in the Newport is most likely not original to the car.

    what master cylinder is this?

I would assume the pwer disc brake master cylinders with the square end looking towards the front of the car are non-original while the originals have the round end pointing toward the front of the car. But I might be wrong here, and/or it's the other way 'round. However, if the master cylinder...

Get your Hankook Optimo H724 WW tires while you can!

According to this 2021 Hankook Catalog they still offer some sizes of the Optimo H725, alas not with white sidewall. As aylar wrote above, the Kinergy ST (a.k.a. the H735) seems to be the successor and it is offered with white sidewall in the following sizes: 185/75R-14 89T 195/75R-14 92T...

    Update on Cooper 235/75-15 whitewalls.

The 225/75-15 Hankook H714 on my 1971 Chrysler 300 saved my car's live in at least one, if not several, panic stops in the rain on the Autobahn. This is one good tire.

    Drum locking issue.

Brake hose swelling internally and now acting like a valve, not letting fluid back after applying brakes?

Brake Pedal not returning all the way

If it's just the brake light staying on, you could simply adjust the brake light switch to the current position of the brake pedal lever, it's just one screw. I had to to that after installing a new master cylinder on my all drum brake car. I don't know why the new cylinder results in a...

71 Imperial 4dr - Installing Front Shocks (how To?)

What about Gabriel 82011? Are they any good?

71 Imperial 4dr - Installing Front Shocks (how To?)

You are right, the OEM shocks seem to have been of the conventional design (not conventional anymore today, I guess) and hence were not gas-charged. However, by observation I am compelled to say that all replacement FRONT shocks and many REAR replacement shock abosrbers for our C-Bodies...

71 Imperial 4dr - Installing Front Shocks (how To?)

I always thought that the original equipment FRONT shock absorbers were of the gas charged type since it is a mono tube design.

Get your Hankook Optimo H724 WW tires while you can!

On the Hankook website, the Optimo H724 ist still listed and it doesn't look like it is being discontued at all. Unfortunately, it is no longer stated if certain sizes come with WW stripe or not. The "Mastercraft A/S IV" seems to be a Cooper low-budget brand. So I guess it is the Trendsetter...

Get your Hankook Optimo H724 WW tires while you can!

I have the Hankook Optimo H724 on my 1971 Chrysler 300, have driven them maybe 7,000 miles and I think it is a real good tire.

    Walking Wheel Covers

If you can put your wheelcovers on with bare hands maybe they are sitting too loose. I need to sit down with my butt on the floor in front of each wheel and do a tap dance on the wheel cover (wearing sneakers and using a soft towel to avoid scratches) to set it. No wheel cover movement has been...

    Wheel covers...

The left ones in the photo are the W11 which came standard with the 300. The right ones in the photo are the W15 optional wheel covers that were listed for $ 34.55 (and were also optional on all other Chrysler models except if equipped with road wheels)

    Shock replacement question

On the underside of the upper control arm you should find a rubber bumper. That should be easy to remove. Afterwards, you should be able to lower the entire assembly a little more (and with it, of course, the lower control arm). Perhaps this step will finally give you enough space to slide in...

    Shock replacement question

This question comes up here every now and then. Try doing a search. In short, you need to cut off or break off the portion of the threaded stud on the top of the old shock absorber that protrudes through the mounting hole. Then you should be able to slide the old shock out without having to...
