Update: engine sounds GREAT! No more valve train clacking! Will double check the timing tomorrow, but actually sounds spot on. My guess is that the previous owner started it up after sitting for many years without taking precautions. Little Pete, I am SO GLAD you started this thread the...

My 440 has spacers.... :wideyed:. In the middle of each pair of rockers. Plus the hold downs in between the pairs.

Along with a stock oil pump (not taking any chances), it was $389. Rocker arms, spacers, pushrods, valve cover gaskets and oil pump. Prob could have gotten them cheaper ordering online but wouldn't have had everything today!

On each rocker shaft there are 4 spacers, 1 between each pair of rocker arms. Mine were worn pretty well, so the rocker arms had way more side to side play than they should have had. I will try to take some pics of the new vs old tomorrow. Got the driver's side done. Tomorrow morning will do...

Oh, I know it could be SO MUCH worse! I'm actually quite enjoying it (aside from the PITA starter issue I had). Found that two valves were stuck/sticky. Penetrating oil applied. They were already loosening up. Will let sit for a while to make sure they free up all the way.

Going through this same thing on the 73T&C right now. 2 bent rods and one just hanging out (lost contact with rocker arm). The spacers were worn out, causing a lot of slop at cylinders that had the bent rods. After a trip to Mancini Racing (stock parts....in stock!), the spacers, rocker arms...

Today's update: While the ground was still dry, I got underneath the wagon to replace the rear shocks and flex fuel hose. Rear brakes were done a few weekends ago. Managed to get wrapped up just before more rain moved in! Thanks for the info on the EGR. I can see why having the 73 FSM will...

CD format is best....if your laptop still has a CD drive. :-D Mine does not, so I had a decision to make today....either buy an external CD drive OR buy the hard copy manual. Found a good used one for $35 and ordered it. Thing is....I already have a 73 CD manual, but I'm a fan of the paper...

No vacuum diagram. I wish there was!! The wagon also has Auto-temp II, so there's a whole lot of vacuum hoses. Noticed the two electrical harnesses that feed into the AT2 control valve (it's on the heater valve) are unplugged. I'll save that for another day!
