    Keys are MIA

Still no sign of them, but thank you everybody for the search suggestions! I can't wait to tell you where they were at...when they eventually turn up again lol. Probably the most obvious location..... :BangHead::p

    Keys are MIA

Kicking myself for not immediately making spares. Bad habit of mine.

    Keys are MIA

I do have a favorite garage shirt...a charcoal gray hoodie I got from a small brewery in Traverse City, MI. The front of it has a giant train logo on it, the back says Ales by the Rails. I was SO HOPEFUL that I'd reach into the front pouch and find my elusive keys. Nope. Also checked shorts...

    Keys are MIA

Did laundry today and went through every pocket! So frustrating.

    Keys are MIA

I stood there staring...carefully scanning every surface. No luck.

    Keys are MIA

I seem to have misplaced the keys to the 73 T&C. Looked high and low, in all of the cars, the house, the garage, the yard, etc. I am certain that as soon as I replace them, I will find them. I'm hoping that posting here will somehow jinx that into happening sooner than later! What are my...

    Mini Starter Woes....

Here's the interference I was talking about. This particular new mini-starter has a bump out at the solenoid side, which contacts the engine block. I wasted time filing down areas that I *thought* were hitting, but I was wrong all along. It wasn't off by much, but enough to prevent the...

    Mini Starter Woes....

I plan on comparing this one to another one, so that I can really tell how far off it is. And will post the brand, store & model #. Who knows, maybe it's just this particular one.

    Mini Starter Woes....

I wanted to compare it with another one in stock, but I bought the last one. I'll see what another parts store has. As for taking it back, probably won't fly. I grinded quite a bit off the housing in one spot (at the flange). Doesn't impact performance, but it's pretty clear it's been used...

    Mini Starter Woes....

Sigh. Mini starter - 1, Christine - 0. Finally figured out where the fitment issue is. The solenoid housing protrudes slightly more (maybe 1/8") than the factory housing (will post pics later). I can only assume that it's specific to this specific starter. For now, I'm sticking with the old...

    Mini Starter Woes....

Did a test fit and it seems that at the flange where it mounts over the stud, there some interference. Won't let it seat correctly. Not on the face of the mounting surface, but rather on the outside edge, adjacent to the face. Will try taking off a tiny bit of material. There's also a...

    Mini Starter Woes....

Looking at them side by side, the flanges look identical. I took pics but my phone it too wimpy to muster up enough memory to post them. I'll post later from the laptop

    Mini Starter Woes....

Update....tried it with the car's wiring and it appears to be working fine. All I can figure it that the connection wasn't clean enough? Should I test the voltage at the red and yellow? Installing it now.

    Mini Starter Woes....

Yes - acts fine off the car. On the car it isn't engaging the flywheel. My random thoughts....trans somehow not compatible? (But it worked with the old one) Not enough juice to the starter? (Enough to spin but not for the solenoid to kick out?) It was a fluke and when I reinstall it it will...

    Mini Starter Woes....

Bench tested it, works just fine. Other than the super thin shield, there are no shims. Side by side, it looks like both of the drives extend the same distance. Any other ideas?

    Mini Starter Woes....

I'm perplexed. I've got a 73 T&C 440 on which the original starter began working intermittently. I wanted to replace it with a mini-starter, so i bought one for a 94 Dodge Dakota 5.2L. I've done this before with no issue. Everything is installed, I turn the key and the starter just spins...
