    me too on the points floating. pull a plug to see if it's running lean. if plug looks like you've hit it with a tourch it's running lean. if light brown it's getting plenty of fuel

    i'd bet the shafts bent. the end of the shaft that goes in the relucter part that the very little snap ring holds together is only a1/4 of an inch. you blow on it it's bent. they get bent pulling a very stubborn rotory button off

    most after market cams are ground on chevy blanks. smaller than chy. blanks. so you have to run longer pushrods which changes the hole lift, centerline mojoe of things.plus the blanks were softer steel and the lifter load was greater which screwed them up faster

    you have a dead cyl. that is why all the eng. shaking and the knock you hear is hydrolic knock cause the cyl. is full of fuel and comp. and has no where to go. i'd say an ehx. valve has stopped working.

    the pass. side h.p. manifolds are prone to cracking. so good luck in finding a crack free one they repop $400.for new one tho if your heart is in it to go that way. man they look way better than headers with a lot less probloms an perform alot better.

    i always use the soft aluminum ones with hightemp sil. never leak and you can reuse them if you haven.t overtightened the crap out of them plus use studs and 12 point nuts you,ll be dead and they'll still be tight and leak free

    you hit it right on the head. i don't understand the use of this camshaft in the first place. an old grind that is way outdated. doesn't have any bottom end grunt in any aplication it is used in.

    727 problems sounds to me like the gov. got some crap in it. jack the rear wheels up and let run in reverse for 20 min. to see if it flushes it out or pull the gov. plug out and shoot some compresed air thru it. this happens with a flush. all the crap goes thru the gov. first.

    a 727 is 3" longer than a 904 so you don't have to do all that trick math. just have 3" cut out of your old shaft or just measure your shaft and subtract 3" and you know how long of a shaft to look for. they make offset joints so that won't be a problem

    sounds like filter and fulid needs changed. be sure to adjust bands and see how gunked up the pan and filter look if you see big pieces of crap stop and pull tranny cause changing the fuild is going to kill it in about a week.
