STUNNING Silver On Silver 1960 New Yorker On My Car Story

Those 1960 New Yorker coupes are one of my all time favorite vehicles ever - just outstanding styling and much less complexity to maintain than my 300F so they are more enjoyable to me overall.....

If I am understanding correctly, you the one who set up the collection and did the displays - just a superb work of art - everything is just really amazing.

    1960 Trunk Floor

I would just add that I was actually surprised at how thin the trunk floor metal was in those early 60s Chrysler trunk floors and it is no wonder they didn't do well in the real world rust wise. It was significantly more thin than in our C bodies at least. So the C2C ones likely aren't far off...

    1960 Trunk Floor

A friend of mine obtained a floor pan for my 1961 Chrysler New Yorker that I believe came from overseas, likely Sweden. He also bought a few of them for his restorations. I have sent him a note requesting the details of how you might also obtain one. It is very high quality and should be...

    Slant headlight models...

As a regular production option the Newport models began in 1961. There were other models much earlier ranging from a show car in 1940 and some sub-models with that name in the 1955 era that implied a 2 door hardtop model.

    Slant headlight models...

It would be best to look online or in the factory catalogs for 1961-2 for accurate applications and dimensional differences but for 1961 both the New Yorkers and the 300G models got the longer fenders - I am not sure which ones the Saratogas, Windsors or Newports got. For 1962 the New Yorkers...

Cars on the Square in Athens, AL

Whenever I see such a well done Forward Look such as yours, I just have to wonder how a group of stylists could converge on such an unusual design with so many different elements and yield such an attractive outcome. Your restoration efforts put it over the top. Congratulations on a job well done!

Can't Help Myself...Had to Buy It

I am not aware of family inter relationships but all I do know is that a guy named Mike now runs the business and also has other related ventures in progress. He is a good guy and his two helpers are also very helpful and honest about the condition of their parts. I have used them many times...

Can't Help Myself...Had to Buy It

Is your first one a 4 door as well, or a 2 door? Yes, the sheet metal in those cars was generally pretty stout, except for the trunk floor pan that was unusually thin and quickly subject to rust holes. 60 New Yorkers are just great automobiles and as noted above, even their 4 door styling...

    Favorite Forward Look Cars

I really rank the 1960 New Yorker as one of the best ever designs. In some ways I prefer it to my 300F just because it is so much easier to work on and maintain compared to my 300F with its ram induction. I haven't shown it for a while now so here it is again since you brought these 1960...

    Favorite Forward Look Cars

It is unusual to see eye to eye with someone on a topic like this, but I agree with all your assessments. The only caveat is that I feel the 300F goes in just before the 62 300Hs. I obtained 3 of the 4 many decades ago when they were affordable, otherwise I would not have even 3 of them. The...

    First year trans cooling..?

I tend to agree with CBODY 67 since I have seen numerous cast iron early Torqueflites that were radiator cooled and some that were air cooled. However, I don't recall seeing any aluminum Torqueflites that were not radiator cooled.

    Another,AnotherAnother,Another 1961 FURY

Its always hard to see an old friend go. Time to get another one. That Fury is pretty nice with straight body panels, minimal rust down low in the rockers that is usual on those models and very complete.
