    Power Window Motor Repair

I have six motors sitting on my bench for the 67 Parklane not including the four in the car. All of them use three small round gear plugs.

    YOM PLates

A "Y" plate would be 1969. My 1968 Cougar's "WTD" plate was issued late May 1968. Here is a 69 Buick.

    YOM PLates

The Ambassador was straight forward. Take new white plates and use blue plates I supply. It was the other two since the Mustang plates were to be transferred over to the Dodge. That part led to uncertainty when it came time to finish the Mustang she then put the plates for the Dodge under her...

    YOM PLates

Part of my restoration was to always get correct YOM plates for the Polara. The seven digit white and blue plates look so wrong on an older car. Maybe not to younger folks but to me they are an eye sore. Well today was the day to go down to the DMV. I went to Window 18 and when I arrived I asked...

    Correct clamp

Well I have all those styles to choose from. When using spring type clamps I have always placed it right in front of the bulge on the flat area.

    Correct clamp

So the time has come to find out what was the correct way to secure the vacuum brake line to the booster and the nipple on the intake. I currently have it secured by two small worm gear fasteners and it is beginning to irritate me every time I see those two. My Fords use a small band and a tool...

    rust

Sand blasting gets into those tiny little depressions which always surround rust holes. If left then those seeds will one day come back. You could wire wheel which takes care of the level surface but would need something like Picklex 20 to deal with the rust in the tiny pits.

    Avoid IN-Line Tube

I use the same material for my lines also. One thing I have found is that for me to make a flare that doesn't leak, and I have had four of those on my truck, has a lot to do with the tool that cuts the line. Of the two I have one tool was responsible for all the leaky lines even though it did...

    1967 Plymouth Fury III 318

Ugh, which is why I assemble my engines after the machining even though my machinist I have known since 1988. He can install the pistons and crank, after balancing, and then I take it form there which he prefers. He does a lot of race engines and those guys know how to assemble their engines and...

Never worry about a rusted bolt

Been using that for the last 15 years around here. The fixture below uses 6 8-32x 3/4" screws. They have been sitting in that fixture since 1953 at least so they are quite rusted in. The first attempt at trying to remove one of the slot screws told me quickly it would get rounded out. Some of...

best cleaner for small chrome items

I have used this for years. I was amazed how dirty my door sills were after using it. My application cloth turned blackish as I wiped it over the parts. By the third application the cloth looked clean. Great for pieces that haven't been cleaned in years like my door sills after buying the car...

Correct decal placement and why can’t I find them in the Parts manual?

I have numerous factory manuals and none mention decals which doesn't surprise me in the least.

    Clamps and engine paint

It is about 92 outside right now. The weather is all screwed up. We are supposed to have a few hot days and then it always gives way to an off shore breeze bringing in the fog and cool air. You know the coldest summer I ever spent was in San Francisco according to Mark Twain. The current...

    Clamps and engine paint

As I bleed my brakes so I can replace two year fluid I am watching the master. While doing that the vacuum hose for the booster is staring me in the face with two worm clamps on it. Those are not right and details like this bug me to no end. On my Fords one uses crimp line clamps for these types...
