Kids, Kars and why I don't butcher them.

My son, now that he turned 10, is aware that he can drive when 16. He has waxed and waned over what car he wants to drive. He never really wanted any of the older cars from what I could tell. For some years he did like the 91 Mazda 626 hatchback because of the area behind the rear set and the...

Anyone Purchase Touch Up Paint From TCP Global?

Have never bought touch up paint from them. Always bought gallons using their color library and it was always right on. First it was PPG SS until they stopped shipping in California and after that their brand which I have shipped to Reno.

    1978 NYB, 392 MILES,For the sceptics.

Oh, I wasn't aware that he had the price at a completely ridiculous price of $50,000. You know that last time I actually laughed that hard and uncontrollably? It was while watching the Geisha Boy with Jerry Lewis and the scene where the huge baseball player fell into the bath and flooded the...

    1978 NYB, 392 MILES,For the sceptics.

Well, I know I don't want that car. If I paid $25,000 now I know my estate will never make that back 20 years from now.

    1978 NYB, 392 MILES,For the sceptics.

I agree. The high value is due to the extremely low mileage. However if I spent that much I would want/have to keep in garaged for good. Blah... I would really drive the car and as the mileage went up the value would go down making me an idiot for spending that much on the car and losing money...

Too bad they changed in 1974. Do you know how long it took me to find one for my 73? Lots of ones for manual steering  but none for power steering.

Help me understand the Formal market. Please!

Forgot last of many RWD cars at least for GM. I would never put those cars into the "collectible" category. First, the later half of the 70's and most of the 80's are nothing to talk about when it came to American cars in design or build quality. Second, when one looks at the number of those...

Help me understand the Formal market. Please!

Talking 1975 and later when Chrysler's rep for quality was in the dumps. Having Iacocca looking for a bailout made the company look even worse. The reference to GM was that their quality wasn't bad at that time but started downhill in 1978 with the X cars and then the wholesale change to FWD and...

Help me understand the Formal market. Please!

Gotta think of these guys more as salesmen first and car guys a distant second. Next they are trying to create the illusion of desire, value and exclusivity. That is what all marketing people try to do in order to sell their product. Apple builds excitement way before they release and when they...

Help me understand the Formal market. Please!

The only full size GM convertible in 1975 would have been the Caprice Classic and Eldorado. They will go for that money in grade 2 condition and for the general public (be that as it may) they are more desirable. The other two GM convertibles were the mid size Delta 88 and Le Sabre which don't...
