1st Engine Build & have assembly lube questions

So I got my motor on a stand and I'm all set to slide my cam in. New cam bearings are in & cam spins smoothly. I have a bottle of Clevite Bearing Guard I was planning on using liberally on all my rod & main bearings and thought it'd be good stuff for cam bearings as well. Good idea or not? Also...

Performer RPM won't clear a/c bracket

Dunno if any of you have run into this before so thought I'd share. So I decided to do a carb & manifold swap on my 383. The car has a/c and I'd like to keep it all intact. I decided to put on an Edelbrock Performer RPM I had lying around. It's a tall dual plane that I've heard good things...

Ever seen a 2bbl carb with only ONE idle mixture screw?

Got the Eddy carb off my 383, put original 2bbl intake back on and original (but rebuilt) Carter carb on. Got the linkage sorted out and trying to tune the carb. Now the wrinkle: it APPEARS as though there's only ONE idle mixture screw....and it's at the REAR of the carb....and it's reverse...

Cam selected for hot 383. Curious what you think.

New engine is coming together. Pistons are off at Swain Tech being coated and I'm still trying to decide on a cam. I think I've got it narrowed down to this one: http://www.crower.com/camshafts/mopar-383-440-b-supercharger-hydraulic-cam-304-hc.html 236* duration @ .050", 114* LSA, .534" lift...

Need pics of 2bbl 383 linkage

Hello all. I am in the process of returning my '68 Newport's 383 back to the factory 2bbl setup. I have the original carb, air cleaner, and manifold. Problem is, the original linkage was severely butchered during the changeover. I'm not sure how many parts/pieces were lost in the process and I...

    BBD carb got flipped over....

So I'm about to get the Eddy carb off my 383 so I can put the original 2bbl carb and manifold back on. Carb LOOKS like it was rebuilt not long ago although I didn't do it. Anyway, my buddy was checking it out and decided to flip it upside down. <EEK> Since it's been upside down, does that mean...

Rear end growling. About to rebuild all I can reach. Need gears.

Hello all! There's a disturbing growling coming from the rear end of my '68 Newport. It doesn't seem to change much with throttle setting or speed and is still there when coasting in neutral. I suspect axle bearing(s). So here's my plan: Rebuild the rear end with new axle bearings and any seals...
