    Steering Box/Coupler alignment questions

Checking off some small projects this week on my '65 Chrysler and thought I would replace the rubber coupling in the steering shaft. Should be simple, right? Instead, I've noticed two things which may or may not be problems, and may be related? First, the steering box & its shaft...

Source for Tie Rod Castle Nuts

I didn't expect this to be the snag in my project. I have a perfectly good tie rod end, but need to replace the nut. Went to Home Depot, bought a shiny new 1/2" fine thread castle nut. It screws on just fine, but it is too tall. When completely tight, the cotter pin hole is still covered by...

Removing the nut from a ball joint or tie rod end?

It seems like most of the time, the nut is stuck to the stud enough that the whole ball assembly turns instead of the nut unscrewing. I suspect the answer is just get the dremel tool out & split the nut, but I figured I'd ask in case I'm just not seeing something.

    Torsion Bar direction

I know the bars are different left & right, but does it matter which end is front or rear? 1965 Chrysler if it matters.

    Idler Arm bolt

I'm replacing the idler arm on my '65 Chrysler and yes, I'm probably overthinking this. :) The old one had the bolt installed from the bottom and a castle nut/cotter pin on top. The new one has a regular bolt/nut with no provision for a cotter pin. First, it seems like it would be better to...

    Brake booster hiss?

I can hear air hissing under the dash when I apply the brakes, which I think is normal. However when I am stopped with the brakes applied, it continues to hiss the same until I let up the pedal. Is that normal, or a sign of a failing booster? 1965 Chrysler with power drums.

    Drum brake pushrod length

My '65 Chrysler has power drum brakes that have been converted to a dual res MC. I want to make sure that the pushrod is adjusted correctly and any info I have found is for disc brake cars. What is the proper length for this setup?

    Torsion Bar Removal

I noticed a discussion on Blackbird's restoration thread about this. I have not taken a C body apart but this is what worked for me on the Dart. 1. Spray everything with PB blast. 2. Remove the clips at the rear of the T-bars 3. Unbolt the lower ball joint, strut rods, and the LCA bushing...
