    Metal gold cad look.

I have a jukebox I am restoring, and looking to reproduce the look of the gold clad I have seen on some automotive parts too. Any suggestions? I see Eastwood has a 3 step aerosol top coat process, using a gold base and then highlight with a green and red tint. Anyone recommend this? This is...

New trim clips, by the Lens Guy

Thanks to @Mike66Chryslers for sending me 9 nice trim clips for the top stainless from his 1966. He sent them to me this summer. This weekend I was able to make a mold and reproduce these clips. I will be offering these up for sale soon. I am going to track down some small O rings. I am...

    My lens making thread.

OK, I am going to attempt this. I came across a very informative video on how to do this. I have been interested in trying to do this myself for years. After watching the video I felt it was doable. When I then came across my NOS taillight for sale I decided it was fate. I am lucky enough...

    My Christmas Miracle

Today I thought I would look into making a mold to reproduce turn lenses. I watched a couple of videos and found a product that I can purchase locally. I have a large pressure pot already so I think I am in business. I was going to start with the clear front lenses on Goldie, but my goal is...

What type of plastic was used in our cars?

I was looking at various searches and came across an article about making a paste with ABS plastic and acetone to make plastic repairs. What type of plastic is in our 60s cars? I think of ABS plastic are an 80's to the current modern cars. Am I correct in this thought? Didn't think this ABS...

    Clock calibration

I decided I wanted to calibrate the mechanical clock I had rebuilt last year in Goldie. It was gaining about a minute a day. That wouldn't be so bad but you can only advance the time when setting clock, so a minute slower would be better. I hooked it up to a trickle charger and set it to...

    Radio convertion

I decided to start a new thread with my radio progress, since it changed from my original plan. Here is a video of the bench test of my converted radio. I am very happy with the results.

Removing the speaker grill on backseat

Has anyone removed the grill inset to re-chromed the frame? Will I regret doing this? The issue is I will have to grind off the flattened studs and then reattach by another method, like jb weld. The chrome isn't bad, but it is so promident in the sun with the top down, that it has always...

    Loose center console lid

I am trying to get together my winter to do list. Those of you who have buckets and the center console, how have you secured the lid? They have those damn studs with no threads. I have bought new factory style nuts but nothing stays tight. Any suggestions? A picture of Goldie I came...

    Engine bay restoration.

I realized I started several different threads asking many questions on restoring the engine bay. I decided to start a new thread covering the whole process. I have been in the disassemble process so far. Today I took a snow day from work and spent a good portion of the day in the shop. I...

    Adhereto anyone use this product?

I was looking to see if I could find anything to put on raw steel to prevent the rust from coming or coming back. I found that everyone said if you applied clear coat by itself, the rust will come back. I was doing an internet search and came across this product with some positive reviews...

66-70 verts, anyone use this front head seal?

Ok here is the situation. After buying a partial convertible roof seal set, I decided I wanted to go ahead and replace the front seal also. I found a seal from Rock Auto and here is the seal. It looks like a combination seal working across the front and then twisting in fitting 5-6 inches...

    Hood insulation pad really cheap

I bought a cheap insulation pad off ebay. It is really cheap and it is impossible to install by myself without tearing it up. My question is did I buy some really junky insulation? It looks correct compared to the original. If it is not typical any supplier suggestions?

Supplier for Pal nut with seal

I am looking for a supplier for Pal nut with seal or rubber gasket. The flat speed nut in the picture looks like I can buy in several places. I bought some a Mopar trade show but the ones I bought are too big.

A great couple days on the 300

I know when to admit I need help. I have a great local mechanic I use when I am short on time or at wits end. In this case a little of both. He took care of my leaky transmission, mushy brakes, turn signal light not working and the big one leaky gasket between the fuel tank and the fill neck...

    Repairing the rear lens

I finally got the 300 back from paint and now seem to have no time to work on it but I won't bore you with the details. I decided to take a job home with me and work on it in the evening. Tonight I worked to repairing the rear lens. I am happy with the results. The last one I saw sell on...

    Aluminum door sill restoration?

I checked and to no surprise no one is making a replica door sill for my 300. Mine are nicked up pretty bad. I was able to clean them up to a certain level rubbing them with aluminum foil and soapy water. What have you guys done? Can a polish shop actually restore them to a certain level?

    Dammit I missed that piece

I have been buffing out the stainless trim pieces on my 300 and came across a piece of pot metal trunk trim that got mixed up with the stainless. I can’t believe I forgot about this piece. My chrome trim has been at the polish shop I think going on 3 months. I guess it will get done next...

Restoring my center console will this work?

I have enclosed a bad picture taken with my phone, of the console panel. It has a raised 1/16th of an inch silver line between a 1/8th of an inch black. I thought I would spray the whole surface and then wet sand the black off the raised area. The problem is the surface is very nicked up and...

My new turns lens from OZ came yes!

I figure several of you have heard of George Laurie, but for those who have not he makes new plastic lens. He is from Australia and if you are lucky enough that he has already made a mold for the lens you need, he will make you a new lens. I had seen some lists of lens he makes but there was...
