Rear gate won’t lock on 72 fury, key won’t turn and inside lock won’t go down with door open or shut. Has anyone had this problem before?

I picked up this 72 fury wagon a couple months ago and wanted to start a thread on it as I try and make it a comfortable daily driver

went to go close the 3rd row on my 1972 Plymouth fury and it wont go down. has this happen to anyone else? is it possible to take the bottom part off to get a better look at what's going on?
