General Information
Nothing like black vinyl in a black convertible in July. Put on your terry cloth undies and fill'm with powder! Having said that its about time this boat gets out. Been about 6 years and this weekend was it's first car show. They suggested I park in a more accessible area away from the corvairs and cobras Most hadn't seen a fury in person before and those that did knew it from driving tests. Of course no one could really challenge me so I told then it was Richard Petty's daily driver...not really.
Its was originally a yellow 318 Fury III and was abused and broken by PO so I'm slowly making it drivable. Now holds an older shop built 440 6bbl. Mild cam. TCI 727 trans, 3.55 SureGrip, aluminum bb radiator, trans and power steering coolers, updated front suspension and shocks, frame connectors, new floors, NOS torsion bars, and disc brake/booster/MC conversion (scarebird), flowmaster 40s on 3" exhaust, MSD coil. Recently added are the gears and new rear springs (espo), oem sway bar (never had one), brake lines, and exhaust H pipe. Of course what made a giant difference was finding a guy(or girl) who could tune it. A godsend even if he did laugh at me because of its previous "tune". Suffice to say I used 2 feet and stalled at gas stations which of course blocked traffic and ticked off lotto and vape buyers. Not cool.
Wheels are American Racing VN500 magnum 500s 17x8 front and 17x9 rear. Tires are 255/55-17 front and 275/55-17 rear. Next up is electrical and dash, vert top window replacement, trunk replacement...maybe, so spendy $$$. Plus it has an identity crisis with sport fury door panels and 70 dash. But I like them so it can wait. I want to get to Carlisle this summer somethin bad. To prepare I'm going to sit on a hot water bottle in a tanning booth while someone throws grasshoppers at my forehead.
