1965 Chrysler 300

General Information

I was a happy camper with my 69 300 convertible, but when I found a 4 speed for sale, I had to have it. A plane ride to Oakland to see the car sealed the deal. After seeing the car I knew that the gold with gold/black interior was not for me. I knew immediately that the car needed a white interior and first thought was a burgundy metallic exterior. Good enough for me, so I had it shipped home, repaired the mechanical issues and used it that summer. After the end of the season, I started to disassemble her and toyed with various colours. Burgundy, then the spring special yellow, then daytona orange. After seeing a picture of a 65 300 in turquoise I knew that was the right choice. I picked up a New Yorker for the extra parts I needed (including the clear tail lights and the 413 to replace the 67 440 that was in the car). Due to a move to a new home, the process took me 6 years. It probably still wouldn't be done if it wasn't for two of my children who asked me if it would be ready for their weddings. The push was on and I made it except for a few minor details.

Edit Aug 2020...Thought I would add a few pics to the album.

I have admired you car for some time. Nice to hear process from acquisition to picking your color. You did a great job on the color probably my favorite I have seen on a c-body. Maybe my 4-speed will show up one day hopefully it will be when I can afford it.

I love the 300. So that's Medium Turquoise Metallic?? I really like the 1965 - 300 & Newport. I looked at several of these before I found my 65 Polara.

It's a shade or two lighter. I picked 1970 Q3 light turquoise.

If you can dedicate all your efforts to one vehicle you can get a heck of a lot done. I'm spread across several project myself and although every one gets done, man it takes years! Congratulations on completing it - looks terrific.
