Thanks! I sent the rolling shell to John Balow in WI who did the body & paint. I did all mechanical & endlessly searched for NOS parts. The interior is original except for the front seat covers & carpet. I drive it a decent amount but only on nice summer days.

Was this the car restored in Wisconsin by a Mopar loving shop???

Sorry for the slow response. Yes, body/ paint was done in WI by MCR which did mostly Mopar in the 90's when they started the business. They used to have tents at the Nationals & Carlisle & I really liked their work. It was founded by John Balow & now his son runs daily ops to best of what I know. They have branched out to all brands more recently.

This car was bought from the original 90+ year old owner in 1994 and shipped to PA via SoCal. It was his pride and joy, he ordered it and personally walked it down the assembly line. Restoration was completed around 2000.

I read this and made it sink in.

Let's say he was 90, and therefore born in 1904 (at the latest). So he bought a new 440/4-spd car when he was 63+ years old! And kept the car for 17 years after!

I hope you got the story behind that!

I goofed on that one! Checked on that, he was born in 1913 so about 10 years younger than I said. He was in very poor health when he sold it to me in 1994 although he did hang on another 6 years. He was working for NASA when he bought the car. Very unusual & intelligent gentleman, was also a WWII vet & is buried in Arlington National Cemetery.

Well, even with being 10 years off, it's still a neat story. And 53 years old in 1967 was possibly just a few years before he retired?
With those attributes - guys like him are being made in much-reduced qty nowdays.
(I am not one of them either - I am merely able to recognize the decline...)
