General Information
My dream car would have been a 65 Newport or New Yorker wagon. But I couldn't pass up this car. I watched it sitting for sale, almost every weekend last summer, on my way to and from camp. I stopped and looked at it once when my wife wasn't with me. It was like an attractive lady, you couldn't help but swivel your head as you drove by. The price on the windshield dropped by $2000.00. My wife suggested we stop and look at it. To back up a few years (about 36), when my wife and I first met, my daily driver was a 65 Newport sedan. I met with the owner the next week, moved funds from a savings account and it was sitting in my driveway about a week later. Not that she''ll see this, but a special thanks to my wife. To quote her the day we stopped to look at it, "If you really want it, buy it".
The person I bought it from had replaced wheel cylinders, front brake hoses and shocks. I've replaced belts, hoses, water pump, t-stat, t-stat housing, fuel pump and fuel filter. It still needs a lot of attention, carb rebuild, brakes, tires. the fuel gauge doesn't work. The power window switch for the drivers window works or it doesn't. Complete tune up, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, points, etc.
