From seller:

“Hi Dale,

I just heard back from them and here are the answers to your questions:

The engine is 300 V8, 4-barrel carburetor. The paint is not original, but it is in good shape. It is unrestored.

And here's some extra info: It has an air conditioner, am/fm radio, and the upholstery is in good shape.”

“Hi Dale,

Yeah, you're right. My husband and I just checked information about Chrysler engines from the late '60s and early '70s and they didn't put

300 engines in any of them. Like I said, we're not the owners of the

cars, but are trying to help my parents sell them, so we have to find things out as we go along. We'll get the information from them and as soon as we do, we'll pass it on to you.”

Thanks,

Karen

“I called them and they have the title at home. The VIN number on the title is CM23M2C109124. We're going to stop in at the building where the cars are stored on Wednesday to take more pictures, so we'll soon have some more photos to upload.”

1972 Chrysler Newport

You really that hungry for a U code car?
well...sort of, i just think it'd be cool to find a TNT/HP440 optioned 69-72 C body, as it seems it was a fairly rare option. But of course, I may be onto something else next week.

I've never held out for engine size, if I liked the car I liked the car. I can't say I honestly ever thought about the cool factor

yeah, true, i like all of the cars anyway, but everyone talks about options like A/C, etc. which is nice, but to me a 440 HP would be kind of the "ultimate" option, but that's just me.

from ad:

"1972 Chrysler Newport custom two-door hardtop. Excellent interior. Whitewall radial tires. In good condition. 93,000 miles. $9,800.00 or best offer."

From the ONE pic it looks to be in very nice condition .. i'm not partial to the color though and based on lessons learned here seems a little pricey

concur it'd be nice to have a 440 HP ... kindaofa exclusivity factor to have that designator

I agree about the drivetrain comment by Polara71. If you like a car, you like it. Slant 6 to a Hemi doesn't matter. People forget that there were extremely rare slant 6 cars, 318 cars, 383 cars etc. Great point.

here's the response i just got.

Yes, it is for sale again. He had to have the transmission rebuilt because of a leak.

one more reply...i like it but think i'd rather have a NYer, even if a 4 door...

Same asking price, 9800.
