Buying new blueline tires for the 15" Magnum 500 wheels and want to know what sizes can be safely chosen without risking any clearance problems.

-Can 15x8 wheels be used in the front with say 235 tires? (Has 7x15 and 235 now)

-With 15x8 in the rear, what size will fill out the wheel well best w/o rubbing?

-Can say 275/50 be used since the diameter is about equal to 235/60..?

Don't have access to the car just yet and the blueline tires has a few weeks delivery time so I am trying to figure out what others have used without problems.

Only interested in replies about equal cars, not wagons with different wheel wells in the rear etc.

Thanks guys

When I was running my '68 Custom Suburban as a daily driver back in the day, I was running 235/70/75/78 x 15 all the way around with the stock wheels.

A wider wheel will increase the actual section width of the tire when compared to the "design rim width" the measurements were made with. These numbers are in the "Specs" charts at www.TireRack.com, with the width differences noted in the footnotes and "fine print" under the charts.

Here's what I run on my 67 300:
Wheel Vintiques 15x8 with 4" backspacing, painted body color (SKU 69-581204)
Hankook Kinergy ST - front 225/70R15 - rear 255/70R15

The fronts rub a little if I turn the wheel too sharp.
The rears fit fine with no issues, but the suspension has to droop all the way to get them on.

P.S. Your Newport is beautiful.

Personally I would run 15x7 in the front.
15x8 will work but as mentioned some rubbing on hard turning.
I run 23570r15 on 15x7 so I can rotate my tires.
Plus my size is 28 inches tall same as the factree 8.55-14 bias ply.

This is Norway? Where a stop sign reads STOP?

Picture is in the USA. The car will be sailing over the Atlantic this spring, that's why I am trying to get new stuff to go with it. But we have the same signs over here

I ran 15x7 , 235/70-15 road wheels and cooper cobras all the way around on my 68 300. I liked it.
