...totally rotten subframe :icon_neutral:

I'm kinda in the market for a big ol' unloved sedan C-body to get my winter old car fix. So I looked at this machine tonight:

The rust on the body isn't really that bad. Floors look good, heavily undercoated. Then I got to the subframe... I could have easily put my hand through it. What a shame. Interior perfect, excellent trim. Great chrome/diecast. Factory AM/FM, great seats. Didn't bother to drive it, but probably runs well enough.

Putting it out there for anybody who needs a parts car. Lots of good parts here to restore a cop car. Owner is open to offers and he does have a ton of extra parts and spare tires/rims. If not for the sunframe, it would be in my driveway.

Are the subframes in the 72 cars the same as a 71? I wonder how hard it would be to swap one out between the years.

My understanding was the sub frame was pretty universal across the platform, that the assembly number was whatever driveline and suspension it had bolted to it. It would be worth while if one of the old C Body gurus confirmed this.

There was an earlier discussion about the later stub frames (71+ ??) designed for isolaters and the Fury stubs being 2"shorter.

Wow sorry to hear that, the car looks to have been in very decent shape. I have seen it listed on Craigslist for awhile now...now we know why it hasn't sold.

This car is just like my friend Will's Car, Minus the BB. And his is a 71.

I don't think a stub frame would be standing in my way if I liked a car. Plus Murry Park is only 2.5 hrs. from Detroit, and I'm sure he has got one.

I agree... bolt on rust repair without all the repaint fun.

Would you go to the trouble of replacing the frame on a fifteen hundred dollar car? Murray will charge you at least a grand for one, then its all the time and labor on your end. Sentimental value is the only reason to say yes here. There are other 72 Polaras out there
