You know I don't think it was a wise move in saying he drives it down to car shows and then puts up several pictures of the car on a trailer.
 
Well, I would think he should have started the bidding at something more like $2500 and then let it go up from there. A reserve would protect his interests, maybe he would get bids to $6500 or maybe not. But trying to start that high seems a bit overly optimistic to me.

True - I thought he may go a little lower to "get things started" - maybe like 3500 or so.

OTOH - starting at 6500 would keep the shills/fake bidders from doing tease bids and then walking away if they hit the reserve price.

I know I had that experience when trying to sell a vehicle thru Ebay last year - 25 bids but no one really serious or send over low-ball offers (with sob stories)
 
I don't get the low expectations on the price for this car? It seems 50's cruisers have been going up in price and this seems like a nice example. Needs work but it's definitely in decent shape. I would guess there's at least 3 grand in nice parts on this car.
