Awed that its a stick letter car.
Don't know how to handle this one.

There are no official numbers I have been told. For my 1962 300 special convertible the rumor is 6 made.

It is probably priced high due to the manual transmission (a three speed) and it is owned by Richard Petty's cousin.

I hope it has an engine for 40k?

40 grand for this POS? There's a fully restored one in Hemmings right now for just ten grand more.

Before I got down to the bottom of the description I said that's Don's Car, lol. I know of another 999 Blue F convertible turn key car down In that valley too

Did you read the part that says it is complete? No rust free 300G that is complete is a POS, and also has a rare manual trans. It is very restorable it appears to me so far. I agree the price is high, but availability of buyers and actual offers tend to moderate excessive expectations. In my opinion, most of the "restored" letter cars are not done to a very high standard, and are wanting in many ways. I think people run out of money or interest to do them correctly. It isn't easy.

I saw needs complete resto, not “complete needs resto” I guess a comma might have helped.

What IS its fair market value, then?

I would have to see the car in more detail to give a good valuation. I personally do not want a manual transmission, so it wouldn't be the right car for me or one that I would bid on. I personally believe without seeing more that something in the $20K - 25K range would be more likely to sell. This is a car where the market will determine the price.

People who want to restore these cars are few and far between anymore and with Gary Goers recently taking a turn for the worse, having had his leg amputated, we don't know what the availability of the needed parts for these cars will be in the future (and he is the only person making many of the necessary parts required for a high standard restoration). Maybe the sale of his business will come to fruition and his probable buyer will renew our hopes, or hopefully Gary will come back himself to continue his work despite having the life change. I am hopeful.

I think some sellers may not yet have adjusted to the reality that these cars are declining in value rather than increasing anymore. Putting this one up for sale at a high price will bring mindset adjustments if they are needed.

So, unless Hell freezez over and another Gary Goers appears, these cars needing a complete resto are basically worthless because restoration is near impossible.

Well, not quite Stan, as Gary may yet be able to carry on with a lot of the restoration parts (I still need some for my 1960 Imperial) and his interested party to buy his business may also be available to gradually do a lot of the work. And even if a lot of the parts are not available, these cars can be restored but not to the level of the best examples out there if old somewhat worn seals and rubber parts and other items have to be reused from the original car or other good cars' parts.

But the longer one waits to begin restoring one of these, the more difficult and expensive it will be.

The other reason for the high price is it's Barrett Jackson week here next week. Every year a sh&*t load of classic cars come out of the woodwork in the Phoenix area trying to hook an out of town buyer here for the auction. I will be there next Thursday to witness the circus!

A car sitting in a junk yard with crap laying all over it, bad paint, and no interior, trunk, or motor pics to me is a POS. As for the three-speed, that makes it a base model. Rare, yes; desirable (to me), no. The price is very high.

Why don't you buy his business? Seems like it would be a good fit for you. You're meticulous and talented.

Well, like Trump, I am 70 now with no experience in a new field like remaking interiors and other parts such as weather strips, either. So learning from example, I don't want to disappoint most of the people I would be working for..................:p
