Make it a Station wagon and I can even bear this most unattractive Mopar for this decade (to me) into an acceptable design. I think they actually sold pretty well Plymouth and Dodge, inexplipable to me at least.

I thought you, of all people, would be in love with that design. It is the poster boy for Jetson era design.

While I have you on the phone, what does a gentleman with your Classic tastes think of this new breed??

The GT model looks a lot better imo. Brother's car purchased from Highland Park Engineering in 1962. Don't know if it's a '61 or '62. Photo taken summer '63.

Odd looking cars from yesteryear....and I would drive one. LOL!

Nothing for me, I just cannot relate to any of the newer cars.
As far as the Lancer/Valiant is concerned, while I like many awkward designs, the specific mixup of angular and rounded lines does not add up to me. A Compact Hardtop of the era, actually already more of a subcompact that I would like better for example would be the good old Rambler American as a 440 H.

looks like they came pre-wrecked. maybe a front end collision on the way to the show floor?

Car design is said to be Catering in a big way to Chinese tastes, and that's what Comes out by that as it seems.

I'm sure I have already mentioned one or 5,000 times this was one of my first cars. I truly would love to have another one now.
71 Corolla. With the stick it was a true buzzbomb. They started getting shittier starting in 72.

From the 60 Valiant to the 62 big Dodge and Plymouth you can see Exners design direction. There are design sketches that show the Imperial following this path. Think the 63 Chrysler with the more pronounced side bulges like the 62 cars. That design got toned down and became the 63 Chryslers. By summer 63 Dad’s group was working overtime on the all new 65 “C” bodies.
I don’t mind the looks of the Exner 60 through 62 cars but compared to say a 62 Impala or Galaxie they looked dated. Gm and Ford were headed in another direction.
