Nice car if custom is your thing. I don't like the engine compartment, the trunk or the wheels and tires but I am a stock guy pretty much.

To me, the Pheonix was just ugly due to the just plain wrong placement of the tail light and the goofy rear wheel opening. But with a few changes, the Polara becomes outstanding by comparison. It was unique and beautiful to me:

If he had swung a little harder he'd have hit a home run, looks like just a double though.
The original design of these cars is radical enough without mods done in poor taste.

Could probably still bring it home though.

My guess, something happened with the push button and didn't want to replace/fix it or have access to a column. Just a guess.

More likely a later, non cable, trans. The push buttons won't work with a 66 and later trans.
