Gee how much would a guy be able to get it for before being 'professionally' painted? I'd rather buy it cheaper and get my own professional to fix and paint it if I was interested in it.

Your answer is right here:

I'd rather buy it cheaper and get my own professional to fix and paint it if I was interested in it.

I meant that if I were going to buy a car that someone was going to paint and then sell for $6.5K, I'd rather he not paint it as I'm a little leary of quality. Not that I'm motivated to buy this car. Point was the paint job ain't gonna be top o the line

They keep me away, ,dont paint nothing. If I want it painted I'll paint it myself. I want to see the originality and whats underneath

That guy is as old old as that walnut trim they used in the slab Imps!!!!

Garaged fifty years?! Holy crap, that car has been tucked away, in a garage - inside from the elements, longer than I've been alive. Incredible.

This ad is pretty confusing. It feeds the impression it was driven only 2 years and then put away in the garage, yet there's no mileage given.

What does this mean, 6500 obo after professional repaint ? Pretty much unthinkable unless taping trim and putting on a Maaco paintjob.

No it isn't. He' means it's always been garaged when not driven for fifty years. Not stored...

Then he probably meant garaged all its life. I stand corrected.

No, you questioned the quality of paint, I questioned the quality of car underneath the quality of paint you are concerned with.

A fifty year old factory paintjob can be faded even with a car being garage kept especially when it only got an occasional wash down without polish or wax, not to mention the scars a car can get with the right driver. That said in this case I'd be pretty sure to be a cheap cosmetic paint job to maximize flipper earnings. And a new paint job would also make the mediocre chrome trim look even worse as well.
I never buy freshly repainted cars as well and would have rather loved to get one in original condition and do the best to shine up the original paint. I bet this non metallic pale blue would be a rather good hue to restore. A wet sanding with a 2000 grit paper could do wonders.

In the quote professionally was put in ' ' to utilize sarcasm meaning it would NOT be "professionally painted" at that sale price for car + bodywork + paint. In some circles the term "paint job" includes bodywork if you are going to paint a car.

I'm sorry but I'm not going to keep spelling everything out for you Dave. Body work was inferred even if I did not use the actual words "body work" but the point is the same no matter.

I disagree....dont wanna admit it, thats o.k. You're new here i'll let you slide with your arrogant assumption
