Hi everyone. I am in the process of changing the kickdown shaft seal in my 880's transmission. When I removed the pan I noticed it has a metal screen type filter. Can I install the "newer style" fiber filter or should I just clean the metal one and re-install it? This is the oldest Mopar trans I have been into and the 1st time I have seen this type of filter. Also, would anyone know what that correct band adjustment is for this year torqueflite? Thanks again! I need to get a manual for this thing soon!

I found that I can use the newer, felt type filter with this transmission as long as I change to the newer pan with the "bump out" for the filter. However, I still don't know what the proper torque/adjustment is for the bands. Any help would really be appreciated.
Thanks!

Torque to 80++ in-lbs.
Back off several turns.
Torque to 72 in-lbs.
Back off two turns.
Retorque to 72 in-lbs.

Thanks commando1.
Another member directed me to a link that had several manuals available.

I grabbed a manual for a 1963 Chrysler as there was no 1963 Dodge manual.

The spec you gave me was a bit different from the manual but would probably be fine. Here is what the manual had listed:
Kickdown band: back off adjusting screw 5 turns. Torque to 72 in-lb. Back off 2 turns.

Low/Reverse band: back off adjusting screw 5 turns. Torque to 72 in-lb. Back off 3 turns.

I do like the fact that you stated to originally torque the adjusting screw to 80 in-lb then back it off several turns. It has been a while since I have done this but it is a good idea to get the band set where it needs to be and then make the correct adjustment.

You are welcome and what exactly is a "slabbie?"

1965-1968 C-Bodies are Slabbie's or Slab Side style.

1969-1973 C-Bodies are Fusie's or Fuselage style.

1974-1978 C-Bodies are Formals or Formal style.

"Slabs" or "Slabbies"

Haha! I am definitely getting an education here! What is my 63' considered? Or maybe there isn't a pet name for this style?
