I just bought a 1963 Imperial, and I love everything about this car. All except the single reservoir master cylinder! It has a single line coming out that goes to all four drums. I would like to do away with it, and use a dual reservoir system, for safety reasons. I don't want to blow a brake line and lose all my brakes! Anyone ever done a swap like that? Help please! Thanks

I did this on my 64 880 . I will have to look up the part # for the master cylinder worked great. I plugged the one line going to the rear on the distribution block with a flare plug and just ran a line from the master to the back lines with a added union.

I'm not sure if that will work if the master cylinder is placed under the brake bellows like on my '59 Imperial. What I wish to find is a extension to the master that comes up in front of the bellows. So then the bellows won't need to be compressed to check the brake fluid.

I've used the Cardone 10-1323 master cylinder (1967-1970 Chrysler full-size). It's cheap, easy, and locally available at most parts store. It will also clear under Bellows style boosters if you have an older Chrysler or Imperial.

The rest of the conversion is as simple as Dan mentioned above.
