20150515_130101[1].jpgWorking on my friends 63 newport that he just bought. I will be hooking him up with this sight after I finish working on it. The car needs a brake booster, and parts stores don't carry them. Have read many different articles with all kinds on opinions. Figured someone in this forum could help me out. Thanks, Ern

Welcome....there are knowledgeable people on here to answer your questions.

I have a 1962 Chrysler 300 and I am showing a photo of the underhood of that model herein. I am not sure if the 1963 models used the same booster as mine. The one on mine I believe is essentially the same dual diaphragm booster used on a lot of C body Chryslers up through the 1970 model year. They were also used on the Hemi B bodies such as Hemi Road Runners, Chargers, etc. Due to the demand by restorers for this booster, most of the available ones have been bought up by guys trying to flip them for a lot of money. Hence rebuilders no longer have cores for them and if they did, they would be too valuable to sell at regular prices. So if yours is the same as the one on my car, you might want to have your friend have his rebuilt by an independent rebuilder such as Booster Dewey. These guys aren't cheap, so you need to keep that in mind. If your friend's Newport has a different one, but it is also no longer available, he would also have to use an independent rebuilder to rebuild his. Maybe others know of rebuilders they could recommend.
