@Keldon59 I have to do my windshield at some point, but let me know how your process goes since I haven't done this before either. I have the FSM, but any pics or barriers you come across would be helpful. Thanks! Thanks Sarg, kinda what I suspected. I do have the opportunity when I remove the glass to save the seals, I'll see how it goes and get back to post the results.
Thanks a ton Tony I will be looking into that for sure. I've also hear that wintergreen oil can be used for softening hardened rubber but that would be an expensive proposition though minty fresh for some time...heheh. I had a good chuckle at the p.s. : )G'day,
Many Years Ago I Worked Briefly for a Windscreen Specialist.
The Advice he Used to Give in Trying to Save an Old Windscreen Rubber was to Smother the Item with Glycerine.
Never Use Petroleum Based Lubricant as This will cause the Rubber to Swell.
Continually & Gently Massage Glycerine into the Rubbers Until They Soften Right Up.
Be Patient & Gentle. With a Little Work (or a Lot) the Rubbers Will Soften.
It's Not a Five Minute Thing.
All the Best!

P.S. If You Point Out to the Wife How Much This Will Soften Her Hands, You May Have a Volunteer@ LOL.
