Yep, one of the misconceptions about AZ too. While we don't get to 0°, 20's-30's are pretty common for mornings in December-February. Working heaters are definitely necessary!

It seems to keep the rubber vacuum lines and electrical insulation from drying out. There's a guy in Mesa with a 67(?) Newport with the same treatment.
