NOT MINE!!!... Found a couple of unique Fury's to share or preserve here for historical purpose. This one's a 65 Sport Fury 'vert with a 426. A BOGO on this one although I don't see the Arizona car in the low grade pics. Keep in mind that in the Galen Govier document it has a Warwick RI address history with that city very close to the ocean in Rhode Island. So expect plenty of rust as you can see.

1965 Plymouth Sport Fury convertible, 426 street wedge. Stored indoors since 1992, all power options, ran and drove when put in building. Comes with rust-free Arizona shell, doors, fenders trunk lid, some NOS chrome and whole set of very clean moldings, NOS left quarter panel, extra grille, extra top frame, perfect fender skirts and wheel covers. Car was decoded by Galen Govier in early 1990s. Car has an interesting history according to him. Asking $7,000 or Best Offer. Please call landline (see ad for contact info)

@cbarge What do you mean by the numbers not matching? did our c bodies of this era have body stampings?

I think he’s saying that the only way to get the car road worthy will be to use the AZ body and transfer the drivetrain and other parts. Therefore the body will not match the VIN of the original car

Ok I can understand that
But is there any way of telling ?
 
Look on top of the cowl too - may be hidden under weatherstrip . . .
 
I believe that the VIN is usually stamped on the core support and on the trunk lip under the seal.
Correct locations but 1965 it will be the VON vehicle order number. Or shipping order number on the broadcast sheet.
Mopar used VON up until late 1968. 1969 saw the VIN being stamped on various body and frame parts.

Ok, trying not to keep hi-jacking this thread, but are there any actual numbers VIN or VON stamped into the 65 body?
Or, is the only way to verify is with a broadcast/build sheet & refer to the body plate in the driver's side door jam & VIN# left side of the windshield?

It may seem like a dumb question but I have to know!!!!!

My OCD med's aren't doing the job lately LOL!:lol:
 
I remember Dan from the fathomwerks show when he re-bodied a 55 Chevy for the state that the vehicle was registered in (NC iirc) it was OK to cut out the VIN plate with surrounding sheet metal and weld it into place on the rustless body but if you just transferred the VIN plate ie pop rivet or screws that was against the law. I have no idea on other serial number locations for that GM but do know some years had it located on the full frame back by the rear axle(?). Lotta work to resurrect a car, have to love the car I guess... especially if your paying his labor rate.

Chev has had many locations for the body tag# & VIN#

I had the odd occasion in theft of Corvettes in the St. Catharines area back in the eighties acid bath the rear (frame section)SN# and discovering the car was pieced together and being sold and a non-wrecked Vette.
The buyer of the Vette was beside themselves.

Ya I remember one garage that specialized in BMW 2002's back in the day, buy a front end wreak & a 'rear ender', cut'em in half and weld them together for re-sale. The guy had a line on BMW's nationwide I guess, hard to do back then with no internet but then I remember the larger boneyards had some kind of teletype I guess and they would ship out clips, engines, and other large body parts to the body shops. Some even had a intercom radio type thing and if you hung around long enough you could hear other yards calling out for parts over the speaker.
