1965 Sport Fury gas tank

Any one know where I can get a replacement gas tank for a '65 Sport Fury

That is going to be a tough one to find. 65 was a 1 year only design with the gas fill door on the drivers side quarter panel. 66 & up were behind the license plate. Some radiator repair shops can also do fuel tanks. If yours isn't too bad maybe it can be repaired. Good luck.

That's good advice. It's what we did with the Gremlin tank - works great.

Interesting thing about these tanks: The Gremlin was the smallest car for AMC when introduced in 1970, yet they had the largest tank of ANY AMC car at 23 gallons. Makes no sense to me at all.

This is a long shot, but you might give Murray Park a call. He may have a good used one.

FWIW Bob, I have a decent used tank, although it has 1 vent nipple snapped off, but I believe this should be fixable via a brass barbed fitting. The outside is ugly (undercoated) but inside has only mild staining in some areas. I would have no hesitation to rinse this tank and use it in one of my cars.

Here's the wrinkle -
There is another guy on this list that has agreed to buy it, but I haven't heard from him in a month. Considering the rarity of this tank, I would think he would have jumped on it by now. I cannot explain the delay, and I don't know how long to wait on him. I will be going out of town in the next week or so and will be gone most of Sept.
