Were those stock with 15" or 14" wheels? I'm showing 8.55-14 as the OE tire size. That is a little narrower than, but the same height as the favorite tire around here: 235/75 R15. The 235/65 will be about an inch shorter.

235/70 is a nicer fit, but who am I to talk? I have 245/60's on mine.

I looked further into it, but only from the perspective of '67, for which I have a manual. In '67, 14" wheels were standard, but 15" wheels came with disk brakes.

Were disks available in '66? Or were 15" wheels available as an upgrade?

Nobody should read into this that I think the OP should revert to 14" wheels. Just curious.
