Up for sale is a 1966 Plymouth Fury II 2-door post car. The car has less than 23,000 original miles on the body and less than 2,000 on a very strong 440+6. The car is completely original with the exception of the motor. The car was purchased in 2001 as a 10th wedding anniversary present for my wife. This car was purchased new by 3 ladies. At the time the car had a poly 318. They traded the car to a dealership in 1986. From then the owner of the dealership replaced the poly 318 with a 440+6 out of a 70 cuda and kept the car until I purchased it.

The owner of the dealership rebuilt the 440+6 with performance parts. He also upgraded the 727 automatic transmission with a performance valve body. He told me the engine is rated at 600+ hp but was never dynoed or ran in the 1/4 mile. Since the time of my purchase I have installed power brakes with correct peddle, 355 sure grip in the 8 3/4 rear-end, aluminized dual exhaust with cut outs and correct GTX tips, and also magnum 500 wheels.

Literally the only things the car needs are the front and rear bumpers re-chromed, the tubing around the drivers door is starting to fray, the hood could be repainted (but looks great as it is now).

My wife said she would really like to get $20,000 or best offer!!

Just some personal thought on the price and you should consider that it came from a C-body forum:
The price is extremely ambitious but good luck with it.
Please don't tell your wife what I said - LOL.
 
She is getting despite our son is starting college in the fall. Haven't had any response. We have $16,000 in the car. What can she get as an offer.
 
You might have some luck with the big car auctions with a reserve price or even EBay. Good luck!
 
With cars like these you are never going to get back what you have in it sorry to say.

I don't have the heart to give them the cold hard reality. They seem like nice people. Just victims of their enthusiasm.
The big block installed in a small block K-member car kills the value by 1/2 :-(

My 440 in my /6 Fury showed it in its final sale price. I took it on the chin. Like with most C-bodies...

I have read threads with interest. That is one thing about mopar lovers if it isn't a b body nobody wants them. If you have any body style be it an a, b, or c with a 6 cylinder or small block no matter how nice no one is interested. I have never understood why an unrestored hemi attracts more interest than a beautifully restored mopar without a hemi. A friend had a 68 b body with less than 18,000 miles 3 on the tree and he lost his --- on it and it was a beautiful car even had all the marking from the factory. Wish mopar lovers would embrace all that mother mopar produced. They are after all mopar's the cars we should all love.
 
Hold out as long as you can sooner or later someone will come along and you'll get the money you deserve, you should try automobile swapmeets the one I go to is the Pomona car show/ swapmeet. That's where people from other cities towns and countries go to shop for cars and parts you would be surprised by the amount of people from other countries that have CASH to spend on their dream machines

It is a sad reality......but it is also what divides the die hard mopar folks from the rest....esp. the "c" body crowd.
 
The only solution I see sadly is pull that engine and put a 383 in it and sell it. Take the 440 six pack and find a B-body for it and sell. I know that even more risk but what can you really do? Keep it as is and take a horrible loss.
 
On Craigslist, you'll get ten guys wanting to trade you their '84 Camaro or a Bass boat.
On ebay, you'll get a deadbeat bidder at $10,000.00 and three zero feedback bidders at 95 hundred.
At $7,500.00, it would legitimately sell before the weekend is over. You could be at the bank Monday morning.

I couldnt agree more. And to add to it Chevy guys Love Impalas and Ford guys love Their big counterparts. Over the years I have seen a slow coming around but not enough to make an impact
 
I'd be scared to go to a national C-body show.
Some scary stuff under the radar out there.
I'd come home with my tail between my legs.

1966 Plymouth Fury II

History on this car:
The original owner took this car to his local Plymouth dealership somewhere around 1971 or 1972. That dealership installed this engine and transmission with this intake and carburetor combination. There have been a few upgrades within the past few years, however everything looks like it was installed when new. The entire bottom side of the car along with various interior panels that could be reached had Z-Bart applied when new. Z-Bart is a rust inhibitor.

Intake has a date code of 12-12-69. Original linkage and fuel lines.

25 thousand original miles

All original , very nice interior.

Looks to be same car based on underhood shots. It's been detailed and some simple 'corrections' made (i.e. new alternator, sparkplug wires, air filter, radiator hose) but the circled areas look to be too similar to be a different car, esp considering all the other similarities.

Perhaps it's being 'remarketed' with the cleanup, new wheels, etc?

Although I think it's still overpriced back vs the 16k mentioned earlier. A 2dr-post C-body requires a special kinda guy that wants one, and at a high price those guys are even harder to find, I suspect.

Finding the original car that goes to that E-body engine might be a way to recover some investment, then drop in a plain 383 and see what you can get for the car.

If I had the money I would have snatched this up in a New York minute. I am probably that one guy who is dying to get a car like this. I had one back in 1973 and I miss the car all the time.
